Throwing Away Fear and Remembering to Remember

The other day I was reading a post that intrigued me and set my thoughts racing into many different arenas and my brain became so full it was hard to focus beyond my comments on the post.  A movie began to run in my head of my own life and many others' lives who I know intimately and not intimately, or are just people whose stories I know.  Brain

We are fragile beings really, in many ways very breakable, yet in many ways strong and sturdy and able to weather the storms that may lie in wait for us down the road.  The post spoke of hardships of having to begin over because of circumstances, the comfort they were used to and of perhaps not paying attention when they should have.

It spoke of the hurt and despair that ensues when you lose everything or what you consider everything. A very thought provoking post and an opportunity to look inside at oneself and remember perhaps what we have forgotten to remember.

My comment was as follows: " Thank you for sharing , I believe it helps to hear other's stories because it makes yours somehow a little easier, and when I personally think it is so bad, I realize there are so many more people out there that are a lot worse off.  So I am blessed.  I think all of us have been through ups and downs, storms and hurricanes and I know for myself there have been many times when I was not so sure how I was going to survive the current storm.

Somehow I always seem to be able to move through the adversity and stress and am better for it in many ways.  I learned to put my trust in a higher power when I feel powerless and He has gotten me through, Faith is a wonderful thing. Sometimes it is all we have, literally.  The human spirit is to survive and to live in the light that shines upon us even in the darkest of times. So, thank you in the largest way for sharing your story, it is really a blessing to know we are not alone and we have family of all sorts around us."

As I look at my own life both personally and in business I am blessed, not in the amount of my finances, but in the people within all of the business communities I have been in, whom I have met, enjoyed and learned from as well as all of the clients I have had the privilege to work for and with.

My own family is not perfect by any stretch and we all have had obstacles to overcome, some small and some very large and life changing.  Yet we have been able to walk through, not unscathed, but whole and again blessed, just to be here walking around.  My youngest grandson with Down Syndrome and Leukemia in recession, to drug addictions that were overcome, and life has gone on and become better. It is all good and lessons are always in the mix.  They all make my heart swell with love and inspiration as I have witnessed their ability to overcome.  Angels

I was grateful for the post and the reminders plus the good that can come from the adversities that we all face, in life, in business, family.  There is something beyond what and who we are that is stronger than we could ever imagine and always there for us to reach in and discover if we have forgotten to remember where we put it.

By the way the post I am referring to was written by Richie Alan Naggar, and if you haven't read it, jump in.

Hi Tammy, Me Too, it is always that way.  I was just inspired by Richie's post that I wanted to finish my thoughts and comments in a post of my own.  Thank you for commenting.

What a great motivational, thoughtful post. We are too busy with our own lives and problems and often times we forget to take pause and appreciate how good we actually have it, compared to some of our fellow human beings. Well said and should be seen by more people. Mary thank you for sharing your struggles as well. The key is to be able to get up when we are down and continue on...

Endre, thank you. You are right, sometimes we are too busy and just forget to appreciate what we have and even who we are.  Being thankful for what we have is a learned thing I think.  My family struggles are probably not too different from so many others, sometimes they just look and feel different.

Mary, I read that post and commented too. It was a great post, a wonderful reminder to center yourself and be grateful for what you have, not lament what you percieved you lost or did lose.

I think it helps to remember there are far fewer mistakes than we realize - BUT far more lessons.  I've done my fair share of tripping along the road of life.  I've learned to make it appear more like skipping.  I'm turning it into an art form:-)

Hi Myrl,  Haven't we all done our share of tripping, looking down when we should be look ahead.  Hadn't thought about skipping though.  Thanks Myrl for comment, it is appreciated.

Very timely post Mary, I know that many, many people are really in a desperate situation right now. It is so valuable to spend time thinking of them with compassion and doing what we can to help in our own communities.  And, as you so eloquently put it, being grateful for all that we "do have" and focusing on the positive.

Hi Debb,

Thank you, I do know lots of people are in positions they never thought they would be in.  Very sad, I have friends and most sad of all family in really desperate situations that are just trying like mad to find the way out.  It does make you think twice.  Thank you for commenting.
