Remember WHEN...Ah, Things were Different Then...

It is so fun to live here in Michigan;

We are living with those who are disgruntled with the New Budget-as passed;
and as a result today, 6/7/11 there is an afternoon 'protest' slated to take place around various School districts--"at the close of the school day" of course [as stated by the MEA-We are the people--we are the MEA]

CORRECTION BELOW:  5:42 p.m. 6/7/'11

We have a group of folks [opposed to the new bridge span] passing out notices to homeowners in the Delray area, that look like 'Eviction notices'.
NOT True, but that is the geographical area where the owner of the Ambassador Bridge wants to STOP the 2nd bridge to & from Canada from being built [not, as typed earlier where his 1st span is now & where he wants his 2nd span opened]

We are recovering from a number of "Rain" days; our rivers have lowered from the crest or over crest stages; the puddles in roadway crevices / holes are gone; the flowers [perennials] are all coming into bloom at the same time;
These are good things as they mean we can get back to businness as usual.

Now we have warnings about the weather once again;
...these warnings encompass the temperatures;
...these warnings are 'posted No outside Fires allowed';
...these wrnings are to parents concerning protective dress for children;
...these 'dress' warning are falling on the older students' 'deaf ears' as they
   continue to wear as little & as light an outfit that will allow them to remain the
  day in said school. [Been there--done that--trials of teaching during heat-waves];

What are these warning you may ask:
 our temps are moving into and staying in the Hi 80s to mid-90s;
 our temps are causing serious-breathing problems for some seniors;
 our temps are the ones that we all called for plaintively in March & April;
 our temps are summer-time temps, but we are not into Summer yet;
 our temps are derided, debased, defiled & delightful;
 our temps are the reason why the fountains need to be filled often;
 our temps are the basic operating premiss of: close the blinds, keep the
 outside doors closed,  set the Air on the highest temp that is comfortable,
 drink fluids [non-alcoholic ], use the oven wisely;

Doing all those things; living with the outside temps that ARE hot;
hearing all the complaints viced about items that are active-politically;
living with inside temps set to 74* and doing all of this in the beautiful sunshine that we are experiencing---
Is fine with us.
In fact, if this keep up then a move to Fl. is not so necessary; but wait--we only have this during the summer time and even then not guaranteed==Florida has the potential for this type of weather almost year-round [maybe not the 90s part]

Life is to Live:
It all depends upon how you view life in general & your life in particular
Make your own laughter, and you will laugh and bring others to do the same.

Michigan:
...has it's budget--the problems that we /all feel can be worked out;
...there will be a 2nd bridge to & from Canada--not named as yet;
...the weather we will have with us, with all it's changes;

The best advice to all is to remember what it was like in our Winter 2010
& Spring 2011.  Do know that the cold will come to us again in 2011.

Barb, its hot in NY today too and a heat wave is forecasted for the next few days. Thank goodness for the insulation on out home and its position to the sun, we haven't used the AC yet, but thats not for long.

Ellen...we are to have thunderstorms starting Wed. evening--and then a break in the 90s; sadly, some areas are seeing air conditioners being stolen. That is so low, but copper is copper I guess.
Again let me thank you for the Whale Tale--too fun--too cute. loved that drawing.
Tried to get back on this earlier [after posting] to make a correction about the "Delray" statement--perhaps I can do so now.
Have a great rest of the week.  Thanks for your comment

Sweet -  one more way for us Canadians to get to you (and vice versa)  Congrats on the new bridge!  We're in a hot spell this week too; sunny skies and a slight breeze which I appreciate.  Have a great week!

Barb-No matter what the budget, here in New Jersey the NJEA is opposed!  They've started a soft money advertising campaign against the Governor.  It makes me cringe, because that kind of money is what NAR approved at mid year!

And along with the no matter what, people complain...we have the weather!  Oh well, enjoy the flowers!

Eric...due to the fact that ATT or "a server somewhere" kept me from getting and staying online--news flash--the Cold is already here, if one can call 67* cold; since we had 96* here just a day or so ago--it does feel cold.  thanks for your comment. Have a great Sat. & Sunday.  Albert can make more predictions elsewhere.

Susan...sorry this is late...our "spell" is over for the next number of days; too bad that the switching from the hi-90s to the mid-to-hi-60s causes one's body to question "what the heck are you doing to me...?"
If you could have heard some of those 'talking heads' on the local news you would think that we have never had 90* weather before.
That Bridge is needed & to have the truckers generally wanting to have it away from Windsor so they will not have to sit in that normal street 'gassing all with their diesel fumes'. It is so sad to see that the Ambassador bridge ends in Canada right in the downtown area.  In Detroit, it has some of that, but mainly it was more of a number of ramps, roads & business areas[ do note that we have not gone over to Canada since the need for a passport, so my experiences are from earlier times--still congested then.  thanks for your comment. Have a great Sat & Sunday & week to come.

Laura...the EA's from the states over are involved with their campaigns; when I taught, it was generally in MFT districts--not too much difference in the union tactics either.  The protests will continue & as they do more & more S.Districts are working to be among those Districts who will have a 1.4% cut; this is a good thing and in the Metro Area it is interesting to see which groups are working together within & without individual districts to combine, compile services & make the educators realize that they will have to pay or pay more for their health coverage. Interesting fact just learned--the Dearborn S. District which is a large one has decided to turn the Health coverage over to the Union itself--thus making them responsible for it totally free of district input. That is all that has been released but it is very interesting to say the least.
Our flowers are all in bloom & I think with the drop in temps to the 60s & 70s, they will like it much better than the 90s.  Thanks for your comment. Have a great Sat & Sunday.
