The 210+ Beaches of Greater Victoria
Living on an Island, it is no big surprise that there are a good number of Beaches, in and around Greater Victoria, but over 210+ and possibly over 250+ who would have thought?
If we consider the entire Greater Victoria Area to include areas as remote as Port Renfrew, outside of Sooke to Chemainus on the Malahat there my very well be over 300 different beaches to enjoy and explore around Greater Victoria.
In an out of print publication from 1976 called Gateway to Victoria Beaches, Miss Chapman researched, found and explored 190 beaches between Esquimalt and the Saanich Inlet.
Theo Dombrowski in his 2 recent books called "Secret Beaches of Greater Victoria " and "Secret Beaches of Southern 
Vancouver Island", add a good number of additional beaches in the areas not included in Gateway to Victoria Beaches.
all three of these books offer great details as to access, descriptions and features of all the various beaches and it would be recommended to seek them out before you go out and venture on to the hidden beaches in Greater Victoria. At this time we could not find any publication that covers all the beaches between View Royal and Port Renfrew, although there are books and reports about the various individual trails and beaches in that area.
As we all know the beach is public property, however access to it may not always (in fact fairly often) not be so easily found, hence the need for some caution and to avoid trespassing on to private property we would suggest to make sure you only use marked paths and trails for legal access. When in nature it is important to be prepared for all kinds of hazards, and the beaches are no different, so please be careful, and please be kind and respectful to your surroundings, we want our beaches to be little pieces of paradise for all to enjoy.
From the World Famous West Coast Trail, the Beauty of Witty's and Esquimalt Lagoon to the small intimate hard to find beaches in and around Oak Bay and Cordova Bay, one can make the exploration of the many beaches in and around Greater Victoria, one of the best and FREE year round family adventures, The coming summer holidays may be a Pfanntastic time to find your favourite beach and when you do please let us know which one you liked best and send us a picture.
