I was listening to a great 2 day special on the radio regarding Internet Safety for our Children. The statistics were shocking about predators on the Internet and also about your child contacting strangers they met through the Internet.
Did you know that a predator can track your child by your child registering their name, school, address or email, even if they are all on different sites? Did you also know that out of 500 Church going Girls between 13-15yrs. old 14% all have met in person someone they knew only from the Internet. The statistics are 30% for girls surveyed from 16 yrs. old and up.
Anyway, the show was sponsored by an author who wrote the book tuned and logged and a new software program from a different vendor called- Safeeyes. The Safeeyes software allow parents to track and receive copies of all IM'S instant messages, track social networking your child is on, profile their dates and friends on the social networks, like my space and track any info that you child is searching on the Internet.
They have numerous stories about parents that tracked their child on the Internet and caught them meeting unacceptable older adults and predators. They problem is that girls surveyed Did not want to tell their parents when someone was stalking them over the Internet or in person for fear of having their Internet privileges revoked.
The info gives us a guide to free 19 Internet safety rules to post on your refrigerator and more. All you have to do is log on to familylife.com and click the red button. Right now if you do this you can try out the Safe eyes software for 30 days for free..
It is a great way to protect and keep our children informed about the dangers of the Internet. I am thrilled to find parents who have taken the time to help us protect our children. You can bet that I will be logging on and ordering the book for my kids. Pass this onto the ones you love.. Make it a great week,Mary
