Local, State or National? Where in the World are you Waldo?

Local, State or National?  Where in the world are you Waldo?

Admittedly, the month of May was one of the worst I've experienced in a while. Between juggling real estate transactions, supporting my local Associations, Community involvement, economic survival, and if that wasn't enough, being caught off guard by a negative test result addressing a health issue needing immediate attention, this all JUST STOPPED ME IN MY TRACKS.  Honestly, my plate and my mind were full. I'm sure you have experienced this at some point.  So if you are not feeling sympathetic or I'm boring you to tears, then thanks for stopping by, move on.  But then you won't know where Waldo is now will you?

I couldn't wait to catch up where I left off.  I had the opportunity to attend a District III Candidate Forum in Florida.  The 2012 Florida REALTORS® "candidate" campaign is underway for the office of Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.   The District III Vice President from Jupiter, Tequesta, Hobe Sound Association organized a spectacular event, hosted by the Realtor Association of Martin County (RAMC) in Stuart, Florida. Every association within our District was represented with over 100 attendees.  Current President for Florida REALTORS® Patti Fitzgerald also attended.

Each Candidate had 10 minutes to promote themselves and their causes.  Each spoke passionately about their vision, commitment, and determination to do the best job in representing the State of Florida and Florida REALTORS®.

The Candidates' credentials proved noteworthy; documenting their involvement on numerous local, state and national committees, representing the Real Estate profession.  Their diligence and fortitude drive some vital decisions made at the state level.

Here's my point.  "WALDO WHERE ARE YOU?"  Are you listening?  If you added up all the candidates' time spent traveling across the state of Florida, Washington, DC and other states, contributing their time, supporting our Real Estate Industry, helping to drive positive changes for our Industry, it would be more than a couple of my lifetimes.

I am fortunate to work with Maria S. Wells, Broker and Owner of Lifestyle Realty Group, Martin County, on the Treasure Coast, in Stuart, FL.  She is one of the candidates running for State Secretary for Florida REALTORS®.  Her credentials, experience and leadership involvement at the local, state and national levels are impressive, along with her "sterling professional character" as stated by William D. Snyder, State Representative, District 82.

In summary, I know we are all busy, working twice as hard to make our mark in Real Estate along with supporting our buyers and sellers.  But if you have any "free time", get involved with your local & state associations, if you haven't already. The knowledge and wealth of information you'll receive, along with bonding with other members & joining committees will be well worth your efforts.  I have no right to complain about my "plate being full" after witnessing the devotion and tireless dedication of these candidates!

Florida REALTORS® slogan is a great one this year - "The Power of One - Embrace the power of one ... one person, one organization, one idea"!!!!

Susan- very well done!  I am an affiliate here with the RAPB (Realtors Assn of the Palm Beaches) and the WCR, and they're a great group to be with.  Hope your health issue has passed.

Great job and your view on volunteering is spot on. The volunteer always gets more in return than what they give. Realtors are amazing and truly are the backbone of this country. We are the silent warriors in the road to economic recovery.
