The Importance Of A Realtor Client CONNECTION!

Ok, so I get that the connection doesn't always happen naturally! I meet people that are looking for real estate services and sometimes have a strong "I know more than you" type of personality or "I'm a macho man or macho woman" and you will work for every cent you earn. It's the magical art or opportunity that we have as agents to reach to various types of people and streamline them to the very end of a real estate transaction! There are some simple tips that I would suggest to agents in this arena:

  • Treat people with respect and be professional at all times.
  • Always do what you say and say what you will do! Both sellers and buyers need direction and consistency.
  • Listen more that you talk and re-affirm your clients needs.
With regards to buyers or sellers, it's so important that you interview agents and are certain that you feel a professional connection. We are not buying or selling shoes here, your needs, questions and concerns should be addressed. In California just about every other person has a real estate license. I recommend working with an expert to minimize the risk of a nightmare transaction. A few tips:

  • Ask for referrals from friends or family and interview that agent.
  • Research agents online from various brokerages and speak to then over the phone (phone interview).
  • Hire the agent that you feel most connected with.
I believe that simplicity is key in our line of work. There will always be some sort of complication on a transaction (not always but prepare for the worst) so the least we can do as agents is to keep our clients calm, cool and connected!

Brenda, I think that you make a valid point.  I think its very important to be able to establish a positive working relationship with a potential client.  If that's not possible, I don't believe that the appropriate level of trust can exist to truly work for a client's best interest.

Very good points made, and we have to know what type of person we are dealing with, and then it usually is easier during the transaction.
