Are You Ready Boots? Start Walking!!

My boots my not be a snazzy as Nancy Sinatra's and I'm not going to walk on anyones heart. However I am lacing up my hiking boots today and taking off for a 37 mile backpacking adventure on the Appalachian Trail.

My friend Donna and I will be out for three days and two nights. We will hike from South to North on the Appalachian Trail. Normally this would not be the weather I'd pick for backpacking but a girl must do what a girl must do. We originally had this planned for April but that particular weekend was TORRENTIAL. This weekend was our plan B and we did not have a plan C.

Please keep your AR friend Kim in your thoughts and prayers. It is going to be extremely hot. My hope is that we don't have an issue with rattlesnakes and copperheads and that the ticks and bugs will be kept to a minimum and that we can handle the heat.

Hiking is a hoot. Are you ready boots? Wear different clothing then Nancy on that trek and drink lots of water. Eat plenty of trail mix and post those amazing images from the trip.

Cindy...our first day out we ended up at the Nantahala. That's a really cool place, I'd never been there before.

Kim - you go girl! That's a lot of miles and I've been on parts of the Appalachian trail and hiked overnight - it was very cool! Make sure you bring your camera and post some pictures and watch out for bears - I've seen many! Have a great time!
