Get connected to make it!

 

Bakersfield is my hometown and not only have I lived here most of my life, opened and operated a local business (gym) and established great contacts but guess what to make it in real estate here requires for me to stay connected with past/new connections. I see many agents who advertise in home magazines (nothing wrong with this), show up at the office maybe once/week (do not work RE from home either) and do not network. There is no wonder why their business dries up and why discouragement if prevalent. I'm not above that situation because I will fall straight on my face if I

 don't do what works to get and stay connected. Here are a few tips on what I've implement that has helped my business:

  • Let your friends and family know what you do.
  • Don't make people feel like you're doing so great (even if you are) that you can't take on any more business or seem too busy to sell their little home. I always let people know that things are going great (it's the truth) but that I'm always looking to add new business to keep business consistent so "is there any way that I can help"?
  • I seek events that I can meet and talk to people (chamber of commerce, community events websites). 
  • Pick up the phone and call your "A" list people in your life and remember that coffee or personal time is incredibly valuable.

Our job is to be the "go to" person that our sphere can trust and rely on. Showing knowledge and current production is key for people to trust you in a transaction in the here and now. In this market you can ride on your past accomplishments but current survival....better yet current success is what will set us apart. So my friends, get connect or you will be disconnected!
