Dear Consumer – I Have a Favor to Ask

Reblogger

Why is it that people seem to think that it's okay to ask agents to do research and find them information and then not even acknowledge or thank us for it? Karen's post about this subject reminds me of my client follow up this morning. People should say thank you or acknowledge receiving the information they requested from us just a common courtesy. What, do they think we're going to bite? Read on to Karen's post and reminisce about your own similar experiences and have a laugh at least.

Woman Talking on Phone at ComputerOur first meeting didn’t lead me to believe we had a client-agent relationship.  Merely that you had some real estate questions, and that I promised to provide you with answers.

Our meeting may have been through an introduction by a common acquaintance, a chance meeting at an open house, or you may have contacted me through my website or my blog.

I realize that I need to provide information in a professional and expedient manner in response to your inquiry.  And in doing so, I have the chance to earn your trust, and perhaps your business should a real estate-related need take shape.

But if I do send you that information, would you please acknowledge that you received it?  Real estate agents do a lot of work with prospects and clients without payment, unless a transaction comes together and makes it to the finish line (closing table).  But a ‘thanks for the info; got it ok’ goes a long way to make us feel that the time we spent sending it was worthwhile.

In this day of electronic communication, it’s comforting to know if our work ended up helping the recipient or if it went missing out there in cyberspace. So would you please?  I (along with my fellow real estate colleagues) would really appreciate it. Thank you :)

Victor,

Thanks for the reblog. I am always asking myself this question. Why otherwise decent people would be like they are from the jungles, and have no idea how to communicate with other people?

I was asking myself too... At first I was worry - did I get the address right? Or maybe it went to Spam for some reason? I felt obligated to deliver requested information... Today I'm not waiting for the respond- I call right after I sent email to confirm they received it.
