I enjoy getting my posts featured. I feel fortunate in that, at the time of this writing, I have had 17 featured posts. Not a large amount to brag about, but, nothing to be ashamed of (after all, there are many people ahead of me in points ranking that have had no featured posts, and many behind (and in front) that have had a lot more featured posts). Sometimes I do question why a post got featured, because for the most part, I haven't thought of most of them as featurable.

But lately, I am finding that I get a better feeling inside when I see my "Called Shot" count go up. When it was first started, I wasn't really sure why it mattered, after all, under the old system there was no such indicator. But, the more I hit the suggest button, the more I like it when I see that post featured, whether I get the credit or not.
Perhaps it is just some kind of feeling of accomplisment by proxy, some feeling of vicarious accomplishment. But perhaps it is just the feeling that others agree with me. Or maybe, it is really just feeling good at someone else's success. I do hope that it is the third reason more than the other two. But it is anonymous, and, if someone else's post is featured because I hit the suggest button, it is my little secret. Its that peeing in a pair of dark pants effect, a warm feeling but nobody else knows.
So I am going to continue to look for posts to feature, hopefully from those who's blog posts I haven't read yet, or those who have not had a lot of features. And maybe I'll find out, more than likely, that it is a combination of all three reasons that make me feel good.
So go ahead, call some shots yourself. You might feel good about it, but more importantly, you might get someone the recognition that they deserve.
