There are several tweaks to speed up ANDROID. 

1. Disable screen animations (Settings: Display: Animations)
1. This is a relatively easy step.

2. Disable browser plugins (Browser: Settings: Plugins)
2.  Be sure you understand which ones you are disabling.  It may help to make notes of each step you take to be able to enable again if you choose to do so.

3. Use a third party launcher like LauncherPro or ADW Launcher 
3. Hmmmm - may take a bit of research here.

4. Turn off live wallpaper 
4. This is one EASY step.  Again - may be a good idea to keep track of steps.

5. Reduce the number of widgets and icons on your home screens 
5.Many of the widgets and icons are waiting in SETTINGS so one doesn't need them on home screens if a speed adjustment is the priority.

6. Uninstall any unused apps  
6.  An activity similar to cleaning out your clothes closet! If you haven't used it - get rid of it - well - after noting the URL in case you want it again later!

7. Reduce frequency of data updates (Settings: Accounts) 
7. The ANDROID options allow the user to set the control to AUTOMATIC UPDATE or MANUAL UPDATE.  To reduce the frequency, use the MANUAL setting.
