Active Rain - A Very Special Network Who Truly Cares About Their Members!

I came home yesterday and there was a package sitting on my porch addressed to me. I didn't remember ordering anything, but was eager to open it and see what it was. When I tore opened the package this is what I found...a Tree of Life Pendant. It was such a thoughtful gift and kind gesture, I had to find out who this beautiful gift was from...

As some people know, I'm donating my kidney, (of course I blogged about it - I blog about everything) and Active Rain featured my post - very nice if that way all they did. However, after sifting through the packaging, I found the card that accompanied the gift.........and then I was truly blown away!

Of course it made my day, but it was so much more. Active Rain acknowledged my kidney donation to Barbara and took it upon themselves to send me not only a beautiful gift with so much meaning behind it, but a message saying - we care about our members and we pay attention! Do you know any social media network that does something like this?! I don't!

Thank you to all the staff at Active Rain for sending me the Tree of Life Pendant and letting me know that you really care - I will wear it in good health and it will always bring a smile to my face. Unexpected gifts from the least expected people are always the ones you never forget and this gift is just that!

Niki - let me be the first to tell you how touched I am by you and the Active Rain staff sending me this beautiful pendant with such a kind sentiment behind it. I'm wearing the "Tree of Life" pendant right now and it is so pretty, but more than that, it means so much that you guys would bestow me with such a thoughtful gift! You guys are the best and it's a true testament to this wonderful network we all love - Active Rain!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart - it made my day, week, month! Now I don't usually ask for a feature, but members should know the wonderful staff who make Active Rain what it is - the best networking platform, bar none!

What a wonderful thing to do: both ActiveRain for the gift of the Tree of Life and, of course, Kristine for the gift of a kidney.

Hi Niki!  Here's my comment to Kristine:

"Hi Kristine,  WOW!  What other service/business does something like this?  I am over-the-top touched, not only by their thoughtfulness but, your graciousness and your incredibly kind heart to do what you're about to do.

This really touched me as well because my first career was nursing and our hospital's logo is the Tree of Life.  Everything (documents, scrubs, walls...!) that we had there had the Tree of Life on it!  Now, everytime I see one, it makes me think about the years that I was surrounded by the many professionals and people like you who gave everything that they had to help those in need.  I worked in the operating room and witnessed more cadaver transplants than live ones but, people like you who were ever so generous always had a special place in my heart.  You're giving a part of you that many of us would never do or will never have the opportunity to do.  You are truly an inspiration, Kristine!"

Niki, I can't thank you guys enough for doing something so special for someone SO incredibly deserving.  Your thoughtfulness goes well beyond any business practitioner I've ever known.  Yes, those would say that this is not like any other business--'we're more of a family,' 'this is a network of friends'...but, it's STILL a business and you've definitely outdone yourselves.  Thank you all for making my day!

Niki,

What a beautiful sentiment for a beautiful act.

This is exactly why I find myself on ActiveRain so much. It's soooo much more than just a blog site. It's family.

When I realize how many people aren't even willing to donate their organs after they die, I respect the ones that donate while they are alive even more!  Off to repost this to give Kristine the kudo's she deserves!

This is getting a bit more suivtcebje, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of neighbors will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune Social is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
