The Museum Mile Festival - Reason# 211 to Move to Brooklyn, NY

OK, I will admit right up front that the Museum Mile Festival is not in Brooklyn, but its a great reason for living in the County of Kings none-the-less.

Why?  Well, If you love museums, you'll love the Museum Mile Festival.  This annual event, which falls on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm this year, allows you to visit nine of the world's best museums, that run along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, for FREE. (There it is, my favorite word)

Here's a list of the nine museums you can visit:The Metropolitan Museum of ARt
El Museo del Barrio
Museum of the City of New York
The Jewish Museum
Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution
National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
Neue Galerie New York
Goethe-Institut/German Cultural Center
The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Of course, I'm going to head straight for the MET and then the Guggenheim, but I'll try and force myself not to stay too long so I can visit some of the others.

In addition to the free admission to the museums there will also be Live bands and other entertainment, Art-in-the-Street activities for the kids, and the 23 blocks between 82nd & 105th streets on Fifth Avenue will be come a giant pedestrian walk where you won't find a single car, truck or cab (a rarity in Manhattan).

If you're thinking about moving to the Big Apple, give me a call and let me tell you why Brooklyn would be a great place to put down roots.  Less expensive than Manhattan, I can help you find a home that will feel like your own little slice of 5th Avenue, that will allow you to travel to the real thing in 30 minutes.
