The Case of the Mysterious Browser Fixed ...... IE 9 Back in the Loop

By
Real Estate Agent with Christie's International Real Estate

Hi everybody bob at computer,

IE9

A few weeks ago back in May, there was a post on the problems with Microsoft IE9 and it's compatibility problems here on Active Rain in the "In The Loop" group.

Yes, Yes, I know,  USE Firefox, and I do.

I totally agree with you all.

But for those who are stuck in IE world the latest IE9 upgrade has brought many problems to posting as well as making comments.

Craig Daniels , our own illustrious Tech teacher here and I had been trying to figure out these problems to  no avail, at least on my end.

Just today I tried something that did not work in the past and today it miraculously worked. I wanted to share this with all my Active Rain friends.

Not sure if Active Rain changed some code or what but doing these little bits of changes to your browser settings may fix the problems.

Please let me know if it didn't work on your end. I'd be curious to know.

Open your IE9 browser and go to the tools button located up top on the left hand side on your menu bar.

Click tools and scroll down to Compatibility view settings.

Type in Active Rain.com  address to the Add this website box and hit add.

Then go down and click the "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View"
as well as "Display all Websites in Compatibility View
"

Close out and hit refresh.

Now go to Active Rain and see if it works.

It worked for me.

I like it when things work correctly......that's a good thing.

Hope this helped and please let me know if it  works for you.

PS: Just a quick update for you all.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.

Bob,

That is good news because Firefox has failed miserably since they went to 4.0. Many of us no longer use it. :)

The IE compatibility mode does help to resolve most of the website issue that did not happen in the older version of IE. Thanks for posting this.

Robert,

Thank you so much for the solution.  My husband and I had to go to the Microsoft Help Center to search for ways to find the compatibility views window.  We couldn't find Tools but the Help Center said to use ALT.  That brought up Tools and then the Compatibility Views window.  We clicked the appropriate boxes and voila...it was done.

Now I can add photos to my ActiveRain blog in IE9.

Your post should be featured for everyone at ActiveRain.  I'm sure there are many discouraged people out there who haven't read this post.
