Chris- With this business we are lucky that we get to choose when we work (to some extent). You sound like you have your priorties in check and I am sure your son will look back with fondness at the time you could spend with him.
Hi Chris,
Good for you to take the time and attention to focus and spend lots of time with your son, you blink and they are in their teens and somehow they can't get away fast enough.... have fun and share he best time of their lives
Hi Chris - It is important to have a proper work / family balance which you appear to be doing quite well.
That's a cool spaceship Chris, Alec's quite the engineer. This is a very tough business for balancing family and work, it takes an effort but it can be done. It's great that you seem to be able to manage the juggling act.
Chris,
Enjoy it while you can. Kids are the best and they grow up so fast.
You have your priorities right. And, that will pay off.
Brian
Kristi, we can bend, but we should try very hard not to break.
Peter and Linda, I can remember him so clearly as a baby, his first tooth, his first step... he has grown so fast...
Marc, I do not know how well I am doing, you always seem to beat yourself up over this.
Malcolm, he has quite the imagination...
I hope so Brian, thank you...
Hey, Chris. I left a surprise for you in my blog post today. Hope you like it. Let me know when you find it. What? You thought I was going to tell you where it is? Ha!
Chris, the water will evaporate and need to be replenished, the sand settles and makes the rocks more stable. That is the true importance of those rocks. Occasionally we need to over extend because of clients, but that's the nice part about being an independent contractor, we can shuffle our schedule to accommodate 'stuff'.
Chris--what a great post! I am so glad that Russel included it on his list of Feature worthy and rebloggable posts. I will re-blog shortly.
Here is tip: If you can't spend the whole day with family set aside a few hours especially dinner time and bedtime stories. Enjoy!
Chris, Just read your post from Mary's reblog. Sound to me you are a winner and know what winning is. Have a great week!
Chris, I missed this the first time and am glad I saw Mary's reblog. This is a story of putting what is important (family) at the forefront and allowing everything else to follow. Great read my friend!
Chris, it's seldom to find a Realtor who really balances family and work well. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
Chris thank you for the post you are correct family is very important may I ask how old you were when this bundle of joy came into your life? I have two children 27 and 24 and I am only 46 way to young to have children that age but what the hay it is what it is. They are all grown up and I work all the time now which is a good thing for me right now. Enjoy that little one the memories are wonderful.
Chris,
Well said! It's a tough business, but am learning how to balance what works for us as a family. I do take off days. Will be off Friday picking up our two sons from a tennis camp. They have a fun afternoon showing off what they learned and how the coach teaches, which is unique.
Life is too short and you need to make smart choices for your family.
All the best, Michelle
Chris: Alec will benefit greatly from your dedication to him and his activities!
Priorities are a must in a business like ours, let's just hope we choose the right ones.
cheers
