So here I am on the vacation that I've been diligently planning for months. Wouldn't you know it, but on the 1st day my son gets ill. Needless to say, we didn't do the hikes that I had planned and mapped out. And the sunset jeep tour is questionable. Parenthood is best described by the old expression, "If you want to make God laugh, make plans." Homebuilding can be quite similar.
Building a custom home in Tampa and St. Petersburg requires a lot of planning, yet we always say it's not a matter of if we will hit a bump in the road, but when we hit it. Custom homes are one of the few things not built in a factory assembly line. It requires the coordination of 35+ suppliers and sub-contractors. Let me be clear, we have some really detailed plans, but we know we need to be flexible. Just like today reminded me to be flexible in my personal planning.
Maybe when my son feels better we'll get a short hike in today. Or maybe we'll just hit the pool. Either way, I know that I can hear God laughing.
