The Signal Hill Trail - Things to Do in Tucson

If you like Indian History, Petroglyphs, and Day Trips, here's one to put on your list.
(looking west towards Kitt Peak and Picnic Ramada at Signal Hill in Tucson Mountain Park)
The Signal Hill Trail is located in the Saguaro Mountain Park West, and features a fairly easy 1/2 mile trail (total) up to some Kodak Moments.
Visitors are urged to stay on the trail and to be aware of their surroundings.
In 1933, President Roosevelt established the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps, to help youth find jobs during the depression. CCC projects included the construction of picnic sites, bathrooms, ramadas, trails, dams - 5 such sites in the Tucson Mountain District.
Signal hill was completed in 1934 and is a lovely place for a picnic and a walk through history.
The Petroglyphs were left by the Hohokam Indian tribe.
If you're looking for a longer hike, follow the nearby Cactus Wren Trail.
Of course, you might want to wait until the weather cools again for that picnic...
