I Was Touched By An Angel Today... Two in Fact!

I Was Touched By An Angel Today... Two in Fact!  I had the lovely pleasure of reconnecting with two old friends this morning for breakfast.  We've been friends for more than 20 years, we've laughed and cried together, raised our children together and even traveled afar together.  They are kindred spirits indeed.

Today was very special... as my friends were passing through Grants Pass Oregon, they stopped to tell me about their recent trip to Kenya.  It was a trip that I so wanted to accompany them on, but couldn't due to time constraints and my own civic responsibilities.  While I wasn't able to go, my heart made the journey in spirit.  My friends are not missionaries per say... they're actually two very successful business people who run a commercial landscape company in Southern California.  They have hearts of gold that are filled with compassion, and we share a common bond of friendship and love for God and His people.

Kenya Living Water

Their Kenya stories were captivating and riveting to say the least, and I can't possibly do them justice in this short post.  Suffice to say, that my heart was touched by an angel today... two in fact.  The picture posted here was of a small Maasai tribe, standing next to a recently drilled well in Kenya Africa, celebrating something they had never seen before in their lives... clean running water coming out of the ground!

I had the honor and pleasure of financially contributing to this project to see it to fruition.  While my face is not present in the crowd, my heart is filled with joy along with my fellow African friends.  I plan to go to Kenya someday... hopefully very soon, to see firsthand the fruit of our labor.  But today, I am humbly and silently rejoicing with my Maasai brothers and sisters over living water

What a nice treat for us to read on this Sunday Melinda.  The things we take for granted, like water,  that others are elated to get is something we almost never think about. Thanks for sharing.caca

Hi Melinda, what a lovely story that you have shared with us. It touches me in particular as I sold water purification products in the 80's and know the value of good, clean running water. It something that we take for granted here. The smiles on their faces shows the true joy of having running water for the first time. Thank you for sharing this story with us.

Melinda - that is so awesome and a good reminder of how good we have it in the US. Sounds like you had an great time visit with your friends.

I was in Tanzania, Africa doing foundering for the Amani Orphanage about 4 years ago-it's an extraordinary experience...

Seems strange that no one thought of drilling for water there until now. What you gave them was a healthier life with that clean water and probably added years to their life expectancy.

Kristine ~ I'm not the least bit surprised by your humanitarian spirit... as you have so eloquently and seamlessly entwined the idea in your posts for all to see.  You are a beautiful lady and I am delighted to know you in the rain!

Patricia ~ You too my friend, are a ditto to my comments above.  I know of no other person in the rain who cares so deeply as you do for others, which is demonstrated by your lovely comments on many AR posts.  You are another beautiful spirit here =)

Todd ~ The reason being... this is a very remote tribe, located 8 hours from the nearest town, and must be traveled by dirt road to get there, in a 4-wheel drive at 40 mph max, due to a gazillion pot holes along the way.  Most people wouldn't bother... my friends cared enough to make the journey.

Liz ~ I'm so glad you found this story to be inspiring and worth sharing!  Hope you'll stop by again soon.

Thanks Don!  The greatest gift you can give someone is to meet very basic human needs... water, food & shelter are high on the list. Hugs included =)
