The Firefox browser was used to compose and publish this test entry:

Firefox and WordPress.com played very nicely together.  Multiple images were uploaded and positioned without even one click of the code view tab.

So, my first suggestion to anyone having WordPress nightmares is to download and install the Firefox browser.

It seems to me that many, not all, but many, of the WordPress compliants can be resolved just by switching browsers.

MS Internet Explorer compliance (or lack thereof) to web standards has been a hot topic in technical circles for years.  To give MS the benefit of the doubt, I suspect the problems might originally extend from an attempt on MS's part to make it easy for newbie coders.  Google the terms Internet Explorer standards compliance if you are curious.

But don't ditch Interent Explorer!  Many MLS systems in the country will ONLY run on Internet Explorer.  That's a whole'nuther story.

Jay McGillicuddy~Real Estate Broker brings up a good point  in the comments here:

Resize the images first!  Looks to me that 400 pixels wide is probably about the absolute maximum that would comfortably fit in any WordPress main content column, with smaller probably being better.

Elaine Reese, REALTOR® in central Ohio also comments that "The other annoying thing that WP does is to "undo" paragraphs when the post is saved. Saving undoes any paragraph formatting. So I have to Save, then edit the first paragraph, by clicking 'enter', then save again. I have to do this for each subsequent paragraph until I get to the bottom. Don't know whether this is a problem with the .org version, but it's a little time-consuming. Plus, there's no ability to have additional white space in between paragraphs the way we can in AR. Adding extra </br> or <p> or <div> doesn't help."

Elaine, yes, I see that about the additional white space.  WP strips out additional "carriage returns".  How about the old HTML coder's trick of inserting a transparent gif where-ever you need a "spacer"?  Might be faster .

Now I need to go read more stuff in the WordPress group, before I make a fool of myself.  :-)

P S -- For anyone who does not know me.  I am a long time TypePad user.  See:

After reading  Mike Jones comments about WordPress multiple photo issues, I thought I'd experiment with Wordpress (just for the h#ll of it).

Hi Cheryl, thanks for the mention and we have been using Firefox for about a year and I only have to use IE to make sure my photos are OK in wordpress and my MLS works better with it too. Point 2 Agent does not play well with Firefox either.

Thanks for your extra work on this. In a way, I'm glad to know it's not "just me". BTW, one way I've gotten around the word wrap and extra space issue is to extend the vertical or horizontal margins that we set for the photo. If I make the photo larger and enter a margin of perhaps 20-30, I can force the words to start below the photo rather than to the side.

I like it. The hotlinks function stinks...can't release it after creating it.  The space after the words dont appear right after typing...can't explain it...its weird.

When signed in...I can edit write from the post.  but not from IE.

Caution: CAT BLOG AHEAD

Including random thoughts on life, art, business, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate.

What is a CAT BLOG?

According to Seth Godin: "Cat blogs are for, by, and about the person blogging. A cat blog is about your cat and your dating travails and your boss and whatever else you feel like sharing in your public diary."

Well, I am the boss, my dating years are behind me, but I do love my cats.

Enjoy!
