Neighbor Disputes

It's one of the 10 Commandments, Love thy neighbor...yet across the United States, there are neighbor disputes going on daily. I've seen some interesting stuff over the years. From the basic neighbor that thinks the entire street curb in front of both of their homes is his/hers to boundary lines and cracking foundation disputes over trees.

So...What are the top complaints about neighbors?

1. Noise

2. Property boundaries (obstructed views)

3. Home/Yard maintenance

4. Pets

5. Unruly kids

6. Exterior/landscape design

7. Too many cars/parking

This goes to show you that there is MUCH MORE to consider when showing your clients a home than simply the home itself! Making sure that they are moving into the proper neighborhood and allowing them to meet possible neighbors can make a HUGE impact on their decision to purchase a home or not. Just something to bring into consideration...

There's even a book written on the topic called Neighbor vs. Neighbor!

Here's a few  interesting scenarios that I've seen online...

Tree Leaves

Neighbor shot a horse.

So, how do you solve such issues? Here's a start!

Have any of you been a part of or seen interesting stories about neighbor disputes? I'm sure Active Rain members would love to hear your funny, sad and sometimes scary stories!

Fun blog Scott.  A very interesting topic!   I bet there will be some good comments here.  I've seen some great photos of "tacky" neighbors and outdoor decorating.

My next door neighbor has about 5 old vw bugs parked in the driveway besides his supercab ford truck. The funny thing is that all of his cars are for sale and have been for the past 2 years.
