The American Flag is an Emblem of the Land I Love. 

This is an abstract flag design found inside Jack Daniels Bar & Grill located at L'Auberge du Lac Hotel & Casino in Lake Charles, LA.  This is one HUGE Flag that hangs over the bar area inside Jack Daniels.  There is actually a series of 3 flag designs that make a  big wave curving around the bar area. What is interesting is the construction of the flag design  is made of chains!

This flag design hanging above the Jack Daniels bar is a permanent fixture inside Jack Daniels at L'Auberge in Lake Charles, LA.  I thought it was a great shot to remind everyone that tomorrow is Flag Day! 

As a former history major in college I absolutely love American History.  I am not only a history buff but I also get a double dose of  pride as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America 

The combination of all of the above reminds me of my American heritage and the freedom we enjoy today.  Call me corny if you will, but I still love and appreciate  all American principles including the fun stuff of baseball, hotdogs and apple pie!  I have  even been dubbed as the Flag Lady in my neighborhood of Canal Place and that's okay by me!

The History Of Flag Day

The idea of an annual day specifically celebrating the Flag is believed to have first originated in 1885.

On June 14, 1889, George Balch, a kindergarten teacher in New York City, planned ceremonies for the children of his school, and his idea of observing Flag Day was later adopted by the State Board of Education of New York. On June 14, 1891, the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia held a Flag Day celebration, and on June 14 of the following year, the New York Society of the Sons of the Revolution, celebrated Flag Day.

Inspired three decades of state and local celebrations, Flag Day - the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777 - was officially established by the Proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson on May 30th, 1916. While Flag Day was celebrated in various communities for years after Wilson's proclamation, it was not until August 3rd, 1949, that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day.

Marilyn I have to admit being a foreigner I had no idea it was flag day today although I have to admit that I saw a bunch of flags in a lot of my neighbors properties even though there were none at the entrance of the subdivision. 

Thanks for enlightening me as to the reason for the flags.
