What to try with "reluctant" buyers

Its a buyers market in many parts of the country.  Yet buyers aren't buying.  Is the term a misnomer?  What's going on???

I just came across this article on Realtor Magazine Online.  It is authored by Blanche Evans, editor of Realty Times.  She discusses some of the factors that are keeping buyers on the sidelines and she goes on to highlight many of the things to say to buyers who are sitting on the sidelines in an effort to get them to more strongly consider purchasing a home today.

Items keeping buyers on the sidelines

  • Bad Press
  • Better deals by waiting
  • Shaken confidence
  • Hoping for lower interest rates

What the agent should suggest/point out

  • Interest rates may not come down at the optimal time
  • Interest rates are low right now!
  • Inventory is great now - will your dream home be available in the future?

Please read the article for additional details...

Thanks for Reading :)

I think the best thing to get buyers to buy is if the news would just hush up for a few weeks!  Unfortunately they usually only report the bad stuff -- they seldom report all the wonderful buying opportunities out there.

It really is a wonderful time to buy homes in the Antelope Valley (California) we have some wonderful home purchase opportunities.

That is a solid article on buyers' reluctance to purchase right now. Bad press is probably the number one reason and it then shakes their confidence in the market. Fence-sitters should know that investors in many parts of the country are returning to the market, meaning they, if anyone, know when is the right time to buy.

Kaushik,  Thanks for the timely review of our seller's market.  Fence sitting has proven to be a very good strategy.  Now the market must present itself as an opportunity to lock in some value.
