Pay It Forward by always being there for someone!

Hi all: I hope you're well. I was golfing with a friend of mine and we were discussing our pastor's upcoming retirement dinner. I mentioned to my friend that we were going in spite of the fact our pastor and I had our differences. In fact, another friend asked me to forgive our pastor recently.

What I told my friend who I golfed with yesterday is this. I told him we need to be there for others. I believe we are put on this earth to be there for others. My other friend probably didn't realize that I had forgiven our pastor many moons ago.

The bottom line is this. We are attending the retirement dinner to celebrate a man who gave selflessly to his church community for over 30 years (nine with us). I don't know about you but I think pastoring is one of the more difficult jobs out there. Sometimes I'm sure it makes my job look like a piece of cake!

Whether it's attending someone's retirement dinner, visiting a friend who is ill, etc. etc. I encourage all of you to be thinking every day about how you can Pay It Forward. Have an incredible day!

Amen to that and no doubt sometimes even the smallest and most ridiculous thing can cause a division. I am glad to hear you forgave whatever happened and I am SURE he did/will appreciate you being there and also help him to know whatever caused the issue did not cause a permanent separation and you being there WILL make a difference.

Thanks for your thoughts. Sometimes it's more difficult to forgive than other times but it's all good in the end!

Paul-forgiveness is so important but it doen't mean that you have to forget. Perhaps in your efforts to show your support for a man whom you might not always agree with is a step forward in the healing process.
