26 Comments on How NOT to show your home for sale in Scottsdale, AZ
Wayne - as I mentioned, not only was the listing agent professional with me, she had obviously worked with her sellers on great showing protocol. I've worked with her a couple of time and enjoy learning from her.
John, the homeowner knew it was only for a "preview" by the lone Realtor® and not the actual clients. They said they felt comfortable THIS time, but will ALWAYS take the dogs with them if there's a scheduled showing. That's why they required their listing agent to make the showings SCHEDULED. Typically, I think we all hate to schedule the showings, but this shows a great reason why it's necessary sometimes.
Kudos to you for thinking of our furry friends.
Where I am, the temperature was kind, in the 60s. But this afternoon, whe I showed property, the owner's Black Labrador was locked in the garage -- but the windows were closed. I was concerned as well, but when I called the owner, he said the same thing--- he's just walking around, waiting for us to leave.
But my next thought was, why not take the dog for a walk -- he'd enjoy that so much than be cooped up in the garage.
Take care
LOL, Pacita - maybe his black lab is like my furbabies - they really stink on walks. If I have one of them alone, they are well behaved and an pleasure to walk, but if I have the two of them together, I'm the sled of a team of dog mushers, LOL.
i'm glad he was okay, the dog that is.
I saw someone walking their dog yesterday in the middle of the day. You could tell that the dog was in distress, struggling having the pads of its paws get burnt by the hot pavement.
Leolinda - it makes me so upset when our fur buddies aren't taken provided for.
Juli, I'm glad this story that started out so well also had a nice ending! Our four inside dogs all act differently, as they're not used to staying outside unaccompanied. One will bark once, another will paw once at the door (we call it a "knock"), one will just wait quietly and one will bask in the sun. :)
Juli I would have been concern too, and you did the right thing by checking. I hope your advice regarding pets left outdoors will be heeded.
Good advice for home owners. Don't forget water for the kids in the yard and for the grandparents in the garden.
We see this on occassion and I always make a call and find a way to get the pets water. Nice job looking out for these dogs, Juli. Hope your message reaches pet owners all over -- it's a good reminder!
Juli, I would've done the same thing! How scary! If I were those homeowners I would have thanked you too!
Even if it was their antique crystal punch bowl I needed to fill, I would have found a way to get water out to them! Good for you for making contact and not leaving until you knew the dogs were ok.
I took my dogs for a ride in the car the other day and when I had to stop in the office for some paperwork, I left the car locked and running the with the air conditioning blasting in their faces. I don't even think they missed me as they were happily lapping at the cold air coming at them. It was a missed photo op that's for sure!
Good morning Juli.
that is a great post.
wishing you a great and productive day.
Thank you all for stopping by. I knew there's a reason I love ActiveRain - so many caring people.
That is sweet of you. And it sounds like this seller also is a great candidate to actually sell their home -- getting it perfect for a preview is a good sign.
You're so right, Leslie - I wish I could clone them!! I also know the listing agent pretty well, and I'm sure she prepped them very well. She's truly an experienced and professional agent.
Juli, So happy to hear these dogs were ok. I run into the same scenario here at times with the weather being hot in south Florida.
It's so scary, isn't it Elyse?
Very timely reminder with the first day of summer tomorrow. Glad to hear the listing agent and sellers were so accessible and responsive.
John, this listing agent is awesome - a true professional.
