What REALTORS© (and You) Need to Understand About the Green Home Market
North Carolina's Real Estate Commission may be one of the first to offer CE credits for real estate professionals working in the Green Homes market. The availability of this course implies the increasing consumer demand for healthy-built homes and sustainable environments and the need for real estate professionals to further their knowledge of this important market niche.
Understanding the demographics and the attitudes of eco-friendly homebuyers is so important when it comes to working with clients in terms of marketing and/or investing in green homes. WNC Healthy Built Homes and/or renovated properties and what I like to call "greenups"- those upgrades that make a difference in performance and save money. To address consumer demand, the NC Real Estate Commission this year in offering a continuing education course entitled, " Understanding the Green Home Market."
Real estate professionals can gain valuable residential green building information through participating in this course. "From energy efficiencyand construction concepts to green home maintenance, brokers will need to navigate the complex and growing North Carolina green home market.
Understanding the Green Home Market deals with specific issues that green homes address: land, water, energy, air, and resource use. Important to REALTORS® and our clients, course participants cover
•· green and energy efficiency programs, their market penetration and financial incentives that are active nationally and in NC to clients
•· benefits and features of a third party verified green home to clients
•· need for green home maintenance to clients
•· issues specific to existing homes including: dealing with lead, asbestos, and other poisons; invasive plants/pests and home use during construction
