When you think of a family reunion, what kind of images begin to shuffle through your noggin? Do you picture a large gathering of loved ones, fireplace going, a cozy living room, and a sing-a-long? If so, you need to put the bottle down.
I'm kidding. Some people still do that. I'm not sure where, but I've heard a rumor. Anyway, are family reunion's a big deal in your bunch? They are in my family. Oh goodness, it's unbelievable. Every single year (with the exception of the last 2 - long story) I receive e-mail upon e-mail upon e-mail updates about how awesome the upcoming family reunion is going to be. The family always tries to go full out. Nothing is done in half-measure. It's all the way - or no way! Each year there is either boating, skiing, 2 day bed and breakfast bookings, or resorts reserved. I'm not joking. It's a really big deal with those guys.
(That's not my families poster, but you get the point)
Family reunions can be extremely interesting, can't they? I mean, when you get a huge group of different personality types together, who have a history with each other, and on allllll on their own, and then you add some alcohol, well, you are bound to have some fairly unique moments. I remember one time...well, maybe I better not incriminate my family. You get the point.
Why do I bring this up? The Keller Williams Family Reunion is almost here!!! That's exciting. I've been to the family reunion 3 times in my 8 years at KW. I've enjoyed all 3 of them, although the one at Floriday was my least favorite. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I had, literally, just ended my honeymoon. What can compare to that?
Anyway, this years family reunion is going to be held in Atlanta, Georgia. I've never been there. Keller Williams has booked a ton of hotels with discounted rates. For example, the Atlanta Marriot Marquis, the Embassy Suites, and the Omni Hotel at CNN, are all giving Keller Williams agents discounted rates. There's nothing I love more than sleeping in a hotel room. I'm not sure if it's just being away from the normal routine, the excitement of being in a new place, or the fact that I can crank the AC down to like 10 degrees, and not have to worry about the bill.
In addition to the hotel discount, freezing room perk, there is also the consideration of the emphasis behind the entire motivation for the family reunion. Yeah, I guess that should be mentioned. The Keller Williams Family Reunion is, mainly, about networking and training. And they do a great job in both areas. For instance, this year the training schedule will be placing a focus on the following areas:
How to be an effective Rainmaker
How to run a successful MREA office
Going to level 7 in your business
How to be an effective MCA staff member
Contact Database Management Systems
That's just the tip of the iceberg. What's my deal with ice and cold today?
Seriously, the training is great. Some of the highest caliber listing and selling agents are in attendance and speaking. Then there are the breakout sessions to consider. There is also a time of question and answer with some "big dogs" in the company. And who can forget Moe Anderson's inspiration breakfast?
She's such an awesome lady. Plus, the food is good. And as always there will be the vendor showcase room. Isn't it huge? Is there really such a need for all those vendors to be there?
Ok - any agent reading this - you DO NOT have to buy every program, pen, gadget, or electronic listing getting laser device being sold to you. In fact, you'd be wiser to let your Admin person go into the vendor room to see what you actually need. After all, they are the ones using what you buy, right?
I encourage agents and staff to go to this. If you haven't ever been to one then you need to experience what it's like being around 5000-6000 other extremely motivated, loud, and crazy Keller Williams family members. It is an incredible opportunity to be trained by some of the best agents in the world. And I have found that it is the in between times that bear the most fruit. In other words, it's when you are getting some water, coffee, or taking a potty break and you "just happen" to run into someone, that you make the greatest friends.
I'll probably post more on this another time. In fact, I will probably put up some pictures of past family reunions. Yes, Hank, I will try to make sure that none of the incriminating ones of you get put up.
