The Power of Active Rain,
Localism,
what are you waiting for?

Okay all, I know I have been absent for a bit, but it's hard to keep up with blogging when blogging keeps you SOOooooo,,,,......busy!  Does that make any sense at all?  Let me back track just a bit!

I knew upon returning from vacation (okay, a couple of vacations, but who's counting?)  I have several consultations, one property to destage (oh yeah, SOLD! ~ Blog coming on that one!) and a few instilations to do.  BUSY is good!  Right?

But, it's tough to keep blogging when you're so busy!

That being said, it is SOooo,,,.... important to keep blogging!

For the last couple
of months I have blogged at least once everyday.  What do you think has led me to being so busy?

Let me give you an idea,....

Two weeks ago, I got a call from someone wanting to set up a hair cut,... guess where they got my number from?  Yep,... my localism blog-post on The Hair Salon in Lake Mills WI, top space on Google page one!  I now have another contact in my data base and that person is very happy with The Hair Salon in Lake Mills WI!

Yesturday,
I was on my way home from a long day's staging instillation when my phone rang.  Someone was looking for childcare.  They "Googled" my name and viola' the whole first page of Google was my BBB of WI profiles and my Active Rain posts.  Best part,... that person just happens to be a local Realtor®!  Do you think she was impressed by the "Google Juice" I get?  You betcha baby!  Now she's asking me for referrals,... post on that another day!

Just this morning a neighbor of mine was looking for information on the Jefferson Summer Reading Program,.... Guess who's information was the first to pop up on page one of Google?  Oh yeah, my localism post on the Jefferson Summer Reading Program!  How many other people do you think have seen this post if my next door neighbor did?

So,... if you're still not sure if localism is important,...  see the following blog-posts;

LOL, Laura - gotta love these calls. My favorite was from someone wanting to book a reservation at a dude ranch down in Tucson.

Hey, who do you know to talk to about your weather?  I just checked the 10 day for next week for my vacation to Chicago, and it's not looking good!!!!  Can you put in a few good words for me?  LOL.

What ever do you mean Juli?  It's supposed to be between 70 - 78 & chance of thunderstorms for the next 7 days.  That's perfect weather in WI.  LOL!  No tornados at least (so far).  So, what exactly do you get when you go to a "Dude" ranch?  ;-)

Very impressive, Laura. I had a call from one lady from CA and she was looking to stage her home in Dallas. Maybe she think that TX is a size of CT? LOL But anyway it feels cool even they are not in to the target. I also like calls from people who are looking for me to be in some derectories. It makes me think that if they can find me, than customers would too.

OOooohhh, Anna!  That is a great way to look at those folks!  Always such a positive attitude you have.  You know, you could refer that work to another stager that you know in the Dallas area!  If you don't know one, call me I do.  ;-)

Well hello Craig!  I am just finding out what that power actually is all about!  Now how could I possibly leave the great master of marketing out of a post like this (even if it is only "other than" Amy Hahn)?  After all, she did inspire this post with that call she got at the airport with the,.... on.  (Oops!  I can't tell about that yet can we!  Shhhhh!)

Ellen, I learned a lot from Amy this past week on Localism posts.  March right in with your camera and a note pad and get to meet the local business owners.  The first few are the toughest!  After that smooth,......!

Ahh,,,... Amy Hahn has arrived!  Oh great master of Localism,... (gotta love that)!  So glad you could stop by to my post.  You were an inspiration this past week with how you go into the businesses and meet the locals, take lots of photo's and have so much love and respect for your town.  I am so very proud to have you as my friend!

I'll be watching for that post Amy.  And don't forget,... one little plane ticket, small fee, room and board, a few beers and I am all over that listing!  ;-).

It can be SOOOO hard to keep plugging away, particularly when you are busy! But it really does pay! Even a little bit, consistently over time, will add up to a LOT over time.

Dorie, I have only been in the rain less than a year and I am getting these calls (closer and closer together), With the amount of dedication you've put into this, I can only imagine what you are getting!  The only problem I have is that I wasn't expecting it, so I don't keep the information on me in regards to each business.  I do now!  One little notebook.

You nailed it, free effective marketing Tim!  And it's a win, win, win!  Our local businesses get exposure, we get exposure and of course Active Rain gets a little something out of it as well.  I am lovin' it!

Oh thank you Joni!  It is beginning to amaze the you know what out of me.  I run into people I know and they tell me they found me here and there on the Internet!  Too Cool!

You know Allison, it's only hard when I let my busy~ness, lead to lazy~ness.  Not to be mean to myself, but when I get really busy it's easy to get lazy about marketing because we are getting leads.  But that is exactly when we HAVE to keep it up or the lead generating slows or stops all together!  Once the snowball gets rolling we have to keep it building.  So,... 4:30 a.m. I am back at it!

Of course you did Kristine!  It's that mental telepathy thing we have going on.  ;-)  I am loving localism!  Hey, your big day is coming up quickly isn't it?  Sorry I've been out of the Rain so much lately.  I'll bop over shortly!  Big hugs doll, and thanks for the suggest!

Awe,... did you miss me Michael?  ;-).  Yes, I am afraid I was so taken away by the Crystal Coast, NC and all the amazing Active Rainers there that I fell right off the Active Rain Earth!  But, I'm back working hard, blogging hard, and hitting the "Take it off" hard!  Only 4 1/2 months till October you know.  I still have just over 1/2 my goal to loose.  Now go have fun with those grand children!
