Mule deer at my birdbath: Mike in Tucson, AZ mortgage lender

~ Last Call ~

I keep my birdbath full, and have to fill it every morning.  It's hanging nearly four feet off the ground, and I wondered what was draining it dry every night.  Tonight I stood quietly in the corner of the ramada (that's back porch for you easterners) and waited.  I didn't have to wait long.  This mule deer family (mom and the twins) came quietly out of the arroyo for their evening fill-er-up.

Now that you know what kind of visitors you are getting, it might be fun to go to Cabella's for one of the cameras deer hunters use to get more/better pics.

Hi Mike, pretty Darn Cool, I'd say. Plus I give the Mule Deer kudos for knowing that you are a good a host and will keep that birdbath filled if only to help them out. Actually I love that you are doing this and hope you continue. :-)

Wow Mike that is an awesome shot. It is so very sad that our state is on fire - it's unbelievable how many acres upon acres are burnt. The wildlife needs help - and look at you......steping up and serving them in your backyard.

I'm with Lenn, put out a bucket full for them. Besides, they're practically family now!

That's definitely a cool picture, a family of deer like that in your back yard is worth staying up for to capture a shot drinking out of your bird bath.

Mike:

Good for you for feeding birds and deer.  They both need the water.  By the way, I love how you have set up your replies.  Different.

Twin mulies last fall: Mike in Tucson, AZ mortgage lenderAll,

This is a shot of the twins you see above, taken seven months ago.  They've grown up!

I can't put out a bucket of water because the javelina will commandeer the bucket and drive off the mule deer.

I really appreciate all the kind comments, and plan to continue to fill the bird bath nightly until the monsoon rains bring relief to the desert.

Mike, I've yet to see any of the deer here in Arizona and am so jealous that you have a family of them.  Thanks for taking care of them.

And, I think it's AWESOME that you're volunteering for the national forest - that is so giving of you!!!  THANK YOU - perhaps you'll help spot some of these crazy wild fires before they get out of control.  I'm so proud of you.
