Winter Wonderland

While I am new to ActiveRain, I have been enjoying my local town of Bellingham Washington. We are usually prepared to get about three days of snow each year and it rarely comes before January. At this time (the end of November) we have been hit with so much snow that the school district ended up canceling the kids school for a whole week. Now you must understand that a little city like ours that only gets three days of snow a year is not usually prepared with all of the snow plow equiptment. We get stuck alot easier than those on the east coast.

I live in a very community oriented neighborhood and the snow brought all of the people out of their houses. As we walked to the local parks with our children being pulled on our sled, we checked on the older neighbors to see if they needed anything. As we all enjoyed playing in the snow together, I realized once again, why I love Bellingham. There are people from all walks of life, there is no "bad" part of town, neighborhoods are neighborly, The coldest wintery day brought so much warmth to our family and to the community that surrounds us.

I have begun a new website, it is called http://www.thebestofbellingham.com/ I am hoping that once I get it up and running the community will provide input on what they think the best parts of Bellingham are. I hope it is one more place to support our local businesses and come together as a community. We will see what happens. If you have any input, I would love to hear about it.

I am happy to be part of the active rain community. It will be nice to learn from all of you and it will be great to watch us all grow in our businesses.
