Change in Attitude
Old attitude changed to new attitude after the Olympics.
My husband and I visited Seoul, South Korea; we don't speak their language or know our way around, but do like to adventure. We arrived at Incheon International Airport and stayed at the Hotel Servilla. The manager was so helpful and friendly. He recommended that we visit Gyeongbokgung Palace and the National Museum of Korea.
He wrote all the directions which required about 2 hours Express train ride (23 stops and 2 changes of stations) with addresses in Korean and English, to make sure that someone could help us if we got lost. When we did need directions to a ticket booth, we asked a lady who was running a small convenience store for help. She didn't speak English, but she did leave her store unattended to take us about a block away to purchase our tickets.
About 3 weeks ago, my husband & I had lunch with our Korean friends who now live at Indian Rock Beach, Florida and had migrated to United State of America in the 1960's. We talked about favorite vacation places, and we mentioned our experienced in Korea. The wife said the country's attitude changed, they used to be very unfriendly before the Olympics.
In 1988, the Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee (SLOOC) decided to promote the Seoul Games by a song " Hand in Hand", and to encourage all the International Olympic Committee member nations to take part in the festival and reconcile the harmony and friendship of the entire world through the song composed by Giorgio Moroder (Italian) songwriter Tom Whitlock (USA) and the singing group Koreana (prevent another Olympic boycott the games).
