Are There Buyers Out There -- If You Ask Me, Yes!

Wherever I go, I hear the same dismal stories about "the market," "the buyers" or lack thereof, the crazy homeowners and their unrealistic expectations.  I'm beginning to feel as if I live in an alternate universe just beyond theirs, thankfully a much brighter, more upbeat place. In my world, buyers are coming out of hiding and making known their intention to get into the real estate fray.  I love them.  They're real, they're savvy and they're jumping in with two feet.

Just the other day, right after the Thanksgiving holiday I came into the office to get a few things done.  As happens so often, I wound up staying till late in the day, when out of the blue, in came a couple looking for a condo.  The girl at the front desk looked around, checked the board and realized it was me or no one.  We wound up spending the next few hours together, getting to know each other and exploring the possibilities open to them.  To my surprise, one of the units I showed them felt just right and they lingered for a long time.  I suggested at the end of our tour that they go home, think about what they wanted to do and get back to me.  When they called the next day they had some questions, which I researched and answered.

To make a long story short, today we got an accepted offer.  Keenly aware of their level of tension as they awaited the verdict (there were two offers), I hung up the phone and immediately called her only to get a mechanical voice mail message.  My first thought was to make a simple statement to call me but I couldn't.  I was as anxious to break the news as they were to get it, so I left a detailed message.  Her return call about fifteen minutes later exclaiming, "I'm so excited I can't believe we got it," reminded me once again why I'm in this business.  What a gift it is to be part of the process.

Hi Geri

It is all about timing!  Had a listing walk in on the rare time I happened to be the only one in the office and Ta-Da got an offer late last night on the property after less than a month on the Market!  Good work girl and good for you!

Geri,

Hooray, Good for you in putting yourself in the right place at the right time.  Some people will say you got the couple by luck but you created your own luck by being available when the opportunity showed up!

I started seeing a change a couple of weeks before Thansgiving - it seems like all those buyers that were waiting for the real estate market to crash, are starting to realize it will not happen and can't wait any longer.  Congrats on those buyers and hope all goes well.
