- 5th Annual Survivor Beach, LongBoardLuau.org On the Beach near Scripps Pier, Sunday 6/19, 8AM to 10AM, Free This event was created to show support for those who are battling cancer and to benefit cancer research. Bring your surfboard because participants will try to break last year's record of laying their surfboards nose to tail as a symbol of support for cancer survivors and those battling the devastating disease. Last year there were almost 200 boards, from Scripps Pier to La Jolla Shores. In addition there will be Survivor Speeches and a performance by Healii's Polynesian Revue. I am a cancer survivor (Melanoma) and know how important these events are.
- Sound ON, Anthenaeum Music and Arts Library, LJAnthenaeum.org 1008 Wall Street, Saturday 6/18, $20 for non-members, 10AM to 10PM, Actually this is the third day of Sound On, festival of modern music. Enjoy performances by virtuoso clarinettist Robert Zelickman, NOISE with Mauricio Meza, Rei Munakata and Thomas DeLio and the Chamber Concert Finale with Nathan Brock, Thomas DeLio and Mauricio Meza.
