Allen Hainge's "best website" winner has a great blog and is an Active Rain Blogger

Allen Hainge and Agency Logic recently ran a contest for a "best website". On a whim, I entered mine, and I am sure lots of other people did too. The winners were just announced, and Active Rain bloggers, Diane Szoke & Carolyn Dubrofsky of http://www.charlestonyourhome.com/, were the grand prize winners!
Allen described their site as "A beautiful, effective site, one that exhibits simplicity, elegant design, ease of navigation and, if I may say so, serenity. This site recognizes and meets the needs of today's consumer rather than focusing on the agents." The specific reasons that it won were listed on the Agency Logic blog.

A second AR blogger, (and a new one, at that!) Judy Greenberg was recognized for customizing a template well, and three other "honorable mentions" have profiles on AR, but don't actively blog here or on their websites.

I was thrilled to have our Summit County Colorado real estate site mentioned as "a good example of a site that customizes area information and also provides area maps and community calendars for each area."

It is always nice to get a pat on the back and a Woo Hoo! from someone who should know! Congratulations Diane and Carolyn.

Congratulations I know you work very hard on your web sites and blogs. Can you imagine having a conversation on this subject 15 years ago?

Congrats, the sites take time and can be a great help if done and updated correctly.

Thanks Dena! 15 years ago I had a one page website and that was it! My computer had a 2 GB hard drive!

Monika, thanks so much! We are working on a new community site right now.

Eric, updating takes a lot of time, but the blog takes more! It is doubly difficult with two laptops on your lap.... my computer and my "other laptop" my cat! One at a time works better.

Thanks for mentioning my website. However, as I look at all the custom real estate websites, I think they look so professional compared to a template.

Now I'm working on how to do an outside blog- like yours. What company do you use to host it? Should I consider a free blog or is better to do one that is a little more custom.

Hi Judy, I am not sure who hosts my site, but www.timeforcake.com is the designer. I went the custom route because I get ideas from everyone else and just get frustrated when I can't do them on a template. I want my site to stand out and not look like the crowd, so that is just what I have to do to get what I want. It is not inexpensive, but it is worth it! Congratulations on the recognition!

Thanks Carole! I actually didn't post them all. There are some other websites mentioned, but I just picked the people who blog on AR. There were also several with profiles here, but they are not active.

I just checked yours out...have to go look at the rest...and thanks for giving us the scoop!

Joanne, that's really exciting. I'll take honorable mention any day, with all the web sites out there. Congratulations ! I'm off to check out the AR winner.

Missy, My webdesigner had one issue with the site, and that was that it uses a lot of flash, which can't be navigated by search engines. But I guess that helps to make it look pretty!
