Fixing Up The Little Things To Sell Your Home

If you are trying to sell your home in Aurora  you may be concentrating on the larger picture and not seeing the smaller picture as it really is. While it is important to get the overall look of your home in shape to sell it, there are some little things that will really stand out and need to be handled to help your home sell faster.

Sometimes it is just one little thing that will attract or discourage a potential buyer. Sometimes it is just a minor repair that needs to be done, a quick tidy up or a special cleaning of an area that will make a difference for a sale.

Here are some things you should keep in mind when you are preparing your home in Aurora for a property sale.

1. Make sure that all the doors and cupboards work properly in your home.

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to cook in a kitchen where the drawers don't open properly or the cupboards bang when they are shut. You'd be surprised at how many people will test out your drawers and cupboards when they are looking at your home, especially if they see it as a potential home that they could call their own.

2. Look for small repairs

You may have some small repairs that you have been putting off and may be thinking that you don't need to get them done since you are trying to sell your home in . If the small repair is something very visible or may be noticed by buyers, it would probably be in your best interest to get it fixed. If it has been bugging you, chances are it will irritate a potential buyer as well.

3. Sweep up your front stairs

Since your potential buyers are going to have to walk up your front stairs, make sure that you keep them clean. While you're at it, you should also sweep up the sidewalk in front of your home along with the walkway to it. Give your visitors a good opinion of your home right

from the start.

4. Look for small messes

There may be a few small messes that should be tidied up around your home. Perhaps you keep a pile of mail on the counter in your kitchen. While you are selling your home, simply place this mail in a box and stick it in a cupboard. You never know what effect these small messes may be having on the people that are viewing your home.

5.  The more cleaned out and organized the closets are the the better the buyers will feel that the whole house may be that way.  Closets are usually the last thing that are presentable so be different..clean them out and make them look spacious.

Do everything you can to show every prospective buyer that enters your home that you care about the house and have put special attention into it. This is what most buyers are looking for and what should be displayed when you are trying to sell your home in Aurora,

Great advice Patty & Chris!  In this huge buyer's market and so many choices....the property has to be in top condition!

Barb, Not only top condition but Q-Tip clean.  I have found that even if the buyerscurrently live in a messy home they still want a super spruced up home to buy.

This is a good list.  Yesterday, I heard about a local Realtor who takes boxes to listing appointments and leaves them with the Seller when the Listing Agreement is signed!

Joan,

I agree they have to be able to visualize but can they if it's cluttered and needs repair? Homes these days have to win 2 contest..pricing and beauty.

Thank you for the comments  Barb and Joan

Sharon.  Well, that's a great idea. A big hint to start packing and decluttering.
