The Joy of Getting a New Smartphone.  Oh Boy.

I'm going to be getting a new smartphone today and while I am very excited, I can already imagine the length of time I'll be spending in the store trying to make a decision.

I currently have a Blackbery and while I have no complaints (none, zilch, nada), I'm really just wanting to try something new.  My BB is on the blink.....freezing up all of the time. There are certain aspects of me that reflects a creature of habit so I'm really hoping that I don't walk out the door with yet another Blackberry.

It's just the kid in me wanting a new toy.  I'm leaning towards an Android simply because I don't want to switch from T-Mobile to AT&T or Verizon just so that I can have an iPhone.

In the end, I just need to be able to:

Send and receive phone calls, text message and email

Find my way around via GPS or Maps

Surf the internet

Take photos

Calendar my appointments

Store notes and reminders

Store phone numbers and addresses
(and categorize entry by type:  buyer, seller, HVAC, etc)
THIS ONE ISN'T AN ABSOLUTE NECESSITY BUT I WANT IT AND I SHOULD HAVE IT RIGHT?

Truth be told, just about any old cheap, budget phone would do the trick. But Nooooooooooooooo!  I'm a Realtor®, I've got to have an SMARTphone and an Android at that.  I'm leaning towards the G2 or G2X.  Feel free to offer tips, advices, etc.

Well wish me luck.  I'd better pack a lunch because this could turn out to be a day trip.

Charita, I have an iPhone 3 and like it a lot, but like Joni I'd like to upgrade.  One of my techier friends (not in real estate) switched from the iPhone to a Droid.  Have fun shopping!

Good Morning, Charita. I am in the same boat with you, but I recommend the New HTC Sensation if you are sticking with TMobile. TMoblie does have the best pricing plans out there, $79 for unlimited talk and text is hard to beat.

I went from my Blackberry to the HTC Thunderbolt.  I love it but still have alot to learn.  I also bought the Android Xoom Tablet by Motorola so extend the learning curve probably is about 2 years, giggle.

I wanted to have the phone and tablet to be on the same platform and have been extremely happy with Verizon for over 5years.

I am sure you made the best decision and were not locked into the phone store overnight.

Have a happy Sunday.

Charita ~ Smartphones are so much fun and shopping for one is even better ~ There is a very cool feature you absolutely must look into as an App download that is FREE ~ It's called card munch ~ I found this out from Debe Maxwell in one of her blogs ~ You can scan a business card and it will enter all the contact information for FREE ~ Have a fun shopping day!!

With so many smartphones to choose from these days, it's like being a kid in a candy store when shopping for one.

Good luck with your new phone!

The Android phones have a lot of advantages over the iPhone in terms of what they'll run and overall performance.  Moreover, their cameras and video capability is much better than iPhone.  I've had a Droid Incredible for over a year and I couldn't be happier.

I can't wait to hear what you end up getting!  T-Mobile and AT&T are mergin so you might be able to get an Iphone still!

I always wait until I am eligible for an upgrade.  I really think the next one will be an Iphone but I have a year to wait it out & see what other people have for recommendations!

Hi Charita, I was all set on that HTC Sensation by TMobile, but my daughter took me to Verizon for Father's Day, and I ended getting the New Samsung Droid Charge. They give us 14 days to see if want to keep it or trade it. Hopefully by then I will know if I made a good choice.

Okay Cindy asked the big question.  What did I get?  It's 6:15 pm and I got nuttin.  Too many dang on choices.  I can walk in a house and make an offer on a primary residence for me or an investment property in 5 minutes flat.  But a freakin' cell phone.....I've got to comtemplate.  Am I crazy or what?

Thanks everybody for all of the comments.  I did help me to narrow down my choices, but there were some other (surprise) factors that I had not  counted on.  Maybe I'll have my phone in a few days.

Well...I got another BB when mine went on the fritz..you know all those customer service blogs I wrote about :).  I got the BB Torch and I like it.  I have an iPhone too though, (my husband bought it for me as a personal line).  There is so much to choose from, so I don't blame you for taking your time.  Lots of luck and keep us in the loop :)!

I switched from a Blackberry to an iPhone a couple of weeks ago.  I have the Droid tablet (Xoom), so now I am covered.  I really do like the iPhone.  It is my first venture into the MAC arena.

My son wanted me to get a DROID but I know he is more techie than I so I went with the iPhone. then I had a mind melt because it was not working correctly for about two weeks. Now it is fine. I came really close to choosing another plan...

I think the problem was that AT&T was merging cell tower lines because they acquired T-Mobile. In any case I think that both the DROID AND iPHONE would be a great choice.

Let me know what you decided on.... too bad you can't take them for the weekend like you can with a new car.

I had an iphone when I was with AT&T. Loved the phone, hated AT&T because of the dropped phones. Switched to Verizon, Got the Droid X. Although I loved the Droid, I still missed my iphone. But grateful for the better signals from Verizon.

Then lo and behold. Verizon gets the iphone. Yeeeha!

The Droid X met an untimely watery grave. So I ran and got my iPhone4.

And last week, I got my iPad2.

Today, I got my wireless modem to work with my laptop, iPad2, and from time to time, iPhone if necessary.

VERY HAPPY!
