Great Advice to "Calm your mind" In The Busy World of Real Estate!

By

Steve Florio of Mortgage Family often emails real estate agents some really good stuff!  I really liked his advice June 20, 2011.  He quotes Ralph Marston as follows, "You can choose your thoughts.  And you can choose, for a while, to be free of those thoughts."  Those are the first lines of 6 paragraphs, and these words caused me to stop, ponder and feel.  I will save the rest for another day!

How do you choose your thoughts?  Carefully!  I am a strong believer in "what you think you become."  I've practiced replacing thoughts with other thoughts.  For example, if I find myself thinking about something unpleasant, I replace that thought with a song in my head and in my heart.  I also like to think about my many blessings.

We have some amazingly beautiful blessings in this world that we do not take time to appreciate.  Taking gratitude moments develops a gratitude attitude which is one of the greatest blessings this life offers and helps us become successful in all we do.

The difficult thing for me is to calm my mind and not think about anything.  My mind is constantly busy and racing from thought to thought and from project to project.  I do know it's possible to free your mind.

I once took a meditation class and learned to go to a special calm and serene place in your mind where you can free your mind of thoughts, stress and pressures of the world.  My place has blue water, soft waves, sand, mountains and trees.  It's beautiful, and I find peace.  Sometimes if I think the word "blue," I can relax and go there and escape from the world for a few minutes--about 15 is best.  I come back with new insights and inspiration.

I hope all of us will take his advice, and "Calm your mind" in our busy world of real estate.  As much as I love real estate, and I do love real estate, the calm joy that comes from separating your self from the world for a few minutes is healing and peaceful.  I sometimes even get insights that help my clients.

Janet,

Great post. I have to re-learn those concepts every once in a while. I know this stuff but other stuff seems to crowd it out but reading posts like yours helps realign.

Thank you,

Brian

Janet, I often just sit and look out my bedroom window after I finish my morning Bible study. I find it very peaceful and often get some of my best ideas from that quiet time.
