I am not sure if I am slow on the uptake, but Active Rain is all over the place.  I pulled up some blog posts about Active Rain some were good, bad or indifferent.   When I did a Google blog search for ActiveRain I got 53,300 results; these are articles written about Active Rain and bloggers from Active Rain.   Here are some the quotes about Active Rain.

"On ActiveRain, members can create a free, immediate Internet presence that is quickly indexed and ranked by search engines. ActiveRain is constantly growing, which translates to a larger network to share ideas and create out-of-area referrals. The site's blogs and forums are also free avenues of communication, allowing members to increase visibility with home buyers and sellers and other agents. ActiveRain is yet another mode of communication for real estate professionals to share information with one another, obtain referrals across the country, and drum up business. Members can e-mail one another, participate in each other's blogs and add photos of listings or information on niche skills such as home staging and testimonial quotes from customers. The site also features agents based upon a point system, which can further increase exposure to potential customers and other agents. The more points a profile has, the more heavily it will be promoted on the network. Blogging on the site is very active, as members post comments to exchange ideas and information." Jennifer Hazen/NAR

Here are some other things that are being said about Active Rain from the blogosphere.

"ActiveRain.com is a site that by the time it hits 5 months old it will have over 7,000 members and all of it via word of mouth advertising. If ever a site displayed the power of the web and niche social networking this is it. - Niche Social Networking"

"It's official.  Active Rain is the hottest new real estate resource on the Internet.  Realtors from all over the world are logging on daily to write their blogs, earn their points, and expound upon the nature of the universe". Real Opinionated Blogging

"Active Rain has become by far the fastest growing online real estate community in the United States" Real Estate Blogs

>Back in July a well known blogger was attempting some "funny stuff".  THE ONLY Reason why I am posting this here, is I want you to take notice of Heaton's reply.  He was so professional and well mannered that the bad could not ruffle the feathers of Matt.

Here is what I want to emphasize - as Active Rain grows and more and more bloggers joint the platform, it is bound to change.  The quality as well as quantity will skyrocket.  The benefit is that as Active Rain gains in exposure - so will you.  So remember you are on an interview every day and thousands of eyes are watching you, judging you make sure you are all ways ready for the occasion!

When I first joined AR I saw Matt's appearance on a very well known blog in July...  he was professional and well mannered.

Christine,

I think this is a great post, and I hope many people stop by to read it.  I'm fairly new here, so I missed the 'funny stuff' that was going on before.  I have, however, noticed in the last couple of days a couple of what I thought were questionable posts that included some pretty tacky graphics.  When I came upon them, I was a bit startled that someone who was a professional would actually put things like that up on their blog where consumers all over the world could see that.  I felt like not only was this person making him/herself look bad, but because it's part of this network, it makes all of us look bad.

Great points in your post, especially your last paragraph!

Niche Social Networking underestimated the power of Rain ! We dont have 7000, we have over 10,000 !

This may be the "Hurricane' of the year!

To update my comment above about the posts with questionable graphics - I just checked and they apparently have been removed.  I think that's a good thing, no matter who removed them, that they're gone.  It reflects much better on all of us without junk like that on this network.

Oh I meant it..it kinda ruffled me because one was bad, two was just uncalled for! This needs to be a clean site where we can show respect to the founders of this site who certainly dont want that kind of garbage tarnishing their reputation.

Theres a time and place for that type of stuff- I am sure there are sites like myspace who would enjoy his company.

I have been here only a short time and (second day) and have already networked with several people in my area and one long distance.  I was skeptical about this type of online network but after my short experience I am well pleased.

Keep it up ActiveRain.

As a newer member of AR, I want to express my gratitude  for being able to participate with the other wonderful AR members! Because of your feedback to one of my first posts, I was interviewed by my neighborhood weekly. I won't know if it will make it past the editor, but AR was a definite topic! THANK YOU AR COMMUNITY!

Christine - Fabulous Post!  I am so glad you included the link to the Mr. Housing Bubble Blog because Matt's reply was incredible and I would have missed it otherwise.  I have no idea what pictures you are referring to, but I guess ignorance is bliss.  Keep up the good work!

I got into AR and started blogging on it a month or so ago.  My position on Google has risen 2 spots on the first page of results.  Google sees AR as an authority site and is indexing more pages all the time.  This is a very good thing for search engine optimization.

Christine, you rock. It was so cool to read the excerpts you posted. Is this a great community or what! And thankfully most people are very professional on here. We know how to have fun, but we have respect. That's what it's all about. How true though (and I have said this before) with 10,000 people, how can you not have a few glitches?  Terrific post!

I love Active Rain. My "top position" is all over google and I have made great friends and I have learned so much! I have yet to find a community like this one... and it is so awesome, here. And I was seriously impressed with Matt's comment. Its nice to know that someone with such integrity is behind AR.

Dave - I have learned more here in the few months that I have been part of AR then I can contribute to anything else!

TLW and the Broker Bryant - Who loves ya baby.  You are a riot TLW - The roars that echo through blogdome are just great!  I thank you for the leadership that you both provide for all of us - I know that I am not alone in saying that - because TLW - all of your fans have stepped forward - You truly wear the purple hat!

LLoyd - The bloging and seo enhancements are not my area - that would be Mary McKnight - she is the Blogging Queen.  But, AR will get you in the rankings - so stick with it and enjoy and learn.

Suzanne - Just give it time.  Consumers are still shy about posting comments and replys - this too will pass.  Trust me when I tell you - consumers are listening and watching!

Christine,

Very interesting and thanks for posting it. I read the answer from Matt, (actually sounded a lot like Caleb) and it was very professional, well thought out and exactly how one would want their CEO to be speaking. Then I came across someone else at the end of the blog and since no one has mentioned it. hmmm, did they read the whole thing?

You are absolutely correct when you say people are watching. It's almost scary.

Ya'll aren't going to get me started on nuts again are you? lol...

On a serious note I went out there because of Karen's post. It was a perfect example of what goes on in Space. I do Space Travel but rarely comment. I am still learning and will keep myself in check. The day will come when I do in fact launch my ROAR in Space. But until then I will keep learning and hope the new members here follow that link and see for themselves how Wild Space can be. Snore...

Yes it's wild.

A wise man once told me, "If you see a man on his way to hell, stop him, learn from him, take of his knowledge, and send him on his way".  Another wise man once told me, The most important person to really listen to is the person who disagrees with you."

Both have helped me a great deal over the years.

Sorry, off topic.
