Do you think for yourself?
Oh really. You do?
I'd like to suggest that many of us don't (who think we do). Many of us don't think for ourselves. We've adopted "group think." (Another way of saying it is "herd mentality.") What I mean is we've really just embraced (like a lover) the thoughts of others (for the most part).
Somebody tells us in school. Or our friends say it on the playground. Or when we're older, we hear it in the office or on the news or see it in a movie or read it online ~ and voila! ~ that's how we think, too.
We just parrot the ideas of others. ("Polly, want a cracker?") But we never really think for ourselves.
Not really.
(Even the so-called smartest among us.)
