WHO ARE THE LEGENDS IN YOUR LIFE?
Have you been fortunate enough in your life to have a legend walk along side you? Perhaps you didn't recognize the person who has impacted your life while they were directly affecting your life? Hopefully you were or are aware of the people who have greatly taught you, coached you and encouraged you.
I have been very blessed to have been impacted by a true LEGEND. While I was in high school, my basketball and track coach was one whipper snapper of a woman. While under her guidance, I knew she was unique and I knew that no matter what, I never wanted to let her down.
Leta Mae Andrews is a true LEGEND. 33 years later and she is still successfully coaching at Granbury High School. She was named a Disney Teacher of the Year and most recently was inducted into The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
Coach Andrews carries the impressive title of THE MOST WINNING FEMALE BASKETBALL COACH IN THE WORLD! With well over 1,000+ wins, Coach Andrews continues year after year to produce top athletes and winning teams. What is her secret?
Determination, a strong committment to teaching the fundamentals and the basics, a desire to consistently DO YOUR BEST along with the ability to motivate and encourage.
I was so blessed to have Leta Mae in my life and she completely shaped me for my future success! Those principals listed above have been carried over in my lfie and continue to impact me on a daily basis. I owe so much of my success to what I learned from this woman during my high school years.
Thank you Leta Mae for teaching me to work hard, never give up and to not make excuses. In my professional career as well as my personal life, you have had a huge impact on me. As I recovered from lung surgery last summer, I could hear the strong voice of Coach Andrews saying, "Girl, get out of that bed and get moving!"
Who are your legends? Have you thanked them? If not, take time to give them a call or write them a note to let them know how they have impacted your life.
I just saw Coach Andrews a little over a week ago. She is still full of spit and vinegar and so many young women are lucky to have her in their lives. Hopefully they recognize that they are in the presence of a LEGEND!
