Snow Day in Boise...

Boise River snow day

While we have been reading about record amounts of rain and snow in Seattle, Colorado, and the midwest, we here in Boise have been enjoying a long, dry, drawn out fall.  Last night we got the first snowfall to cover the ground.  It's only an inch, but hey, it happened on Friday morning, so I have declared a snow day, and decided to work from home today.  This is the first day in weeks that I haven't gone to the office, and in the spirit of overcompensating for staying home I've made more than twice my usual number of calls, written letters, sent emails, and talked to listing agents about properties my customers are interested in.  Hmmm... perhaps I should stay home a little more often?

On top of being a productive morning for work, it has also been refreshing for attitude too.  I drove my sweetie to her work this morning.  Can I tell you what a joy it is to drive down State/#44 to Eagle on a snow day?  Sun just creeping up, a V of geese flying low over the fields, all the cows huddled together and their breath steaming up... even the other drivers were revelling in it... the usual 58 mph race was a leisurely 32 mph this morning.  There was at least 7 or 8 car lengths between everyone, and no crazy lane changers.  A few smiles and waves... it was a GREAT morning to be alive in Idaho!

For lunch I took a walk on the greenbelt next to where we live.  Boise's greenbelt walking and bike trail system is one of the wonderful perks of living here.  Today I had the stretch by our home all to myself.  Ducks, kingfishers, geese, flickers, and the usual LBBs ("little brown birds") were the only ones I saw.  Oh yeah, squirrels too.  Do I need to tell you about the squirrels?  They all seem to have put on 10 pounds lately, their coats are so full.  How they manage to squeeze into the owl boxes now, I don't know...

But now, lunch is over, so it's back to work.  I've had "work on website" written on my list all week, and today is the perfect day.  Think I'll wander over to Mary's Blog and see what her tip of the day is...

I LOVE my job!
