Will be looking forward to your pohtos of the event :) Eileen
Another splendid example of the new economy and how much wealth there is on this planet.
You, of course, will be sitting with the Prince's entourage, Alexandra and Ron? Please give them my regards.
Santa Barbara Polo Club and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for lunch! It sounds like a "Match" made in heaven!
The charitable portion makes the ticket prices reasonable.
Have a great weekend...
Eileen,
We will not be attending the event. We have made plans. As Ted Turner said, "the world is awash with money". It is being in the frame of mind that puts one in the right place at the right time. That is the tough part. LOL A
Toni,
I will forward your kind sentiments via the Universal Good Wishes line, as we will not be there. My parents met Queen Elizabeth and Philip a few years back at an embassy reception...I would think they would have remembered me ( the toddler, then) and sent an invite....LOL. I do think they both are a breath of fresh air, and I wish them a "happily ever after life", as I have with Ron. A
Judi,
You make a very interesting point. In Los Angeles County, you have to disclose the percentage of the funds that actually makes it to charity. It was an eye opener how many events were 10% to charity, and the rest went to admin and expenses, as well as being seen. I don't know if disclosures apply here in Santa Barbara County, (I will have to research). Our bent is to give to those whose percentage is close to 80%. My father was a Shriner, and close to 100% went to the charity like their burn hospital. A
Ron & Alexandra,
Sorry you couldn't be in attendance. More than anything else, I like the charitable aspects about this highly prestigious, social event... g
Gordon,
Indeed, it is always great to tie in a charitable event with a royal visit. It makes perfect sense. A
Wow...with all the hoopla of their recent wedding, I am sure the event will be well attended. They are a nice couple and I wish them a happy marriage. Santa Barbara will have a lot of well heeled people in town :-)
Ann,
There are many many well heeled people to attend this event. Rumor has it, there are 15 billionaires who live here, including Oprah. A
Sounds like a great fundraiser! A little expensive for Darcy and I, but it should be a great one!
wow...that is so awesome..especially to be the person receiving the award :)
Tony and Darcy,
Yes, it should be great. We went and watched some of the players practice with their mallets, when we took the picture. The horses/ponies are beautiful, and they run beautifully. A
Laura,
I am certain that the winner will be thrilled to receive the award. The cup is beautiful, and so is the Duchess. A
It is no surprise that royalty will be roosting in Sana Barbara... it is the creme de la creme! K
