 A  Snowball's Chance in... Baltimore

There are different types of  Snowballs ...especially in the Baltimore area.  There are the winter ones

like these that most people would like to forget. There are the summer ones that are native to Baltimore. In fact many have never seen or heard of them. This is what a Baltimore snowball looks like. You can add marshmallow cream or soft serve ice cream in layers in this cup. I like them plain.

Do you have snowballs in your area?

I'm thinkin' this looks really good right now, but I most likely would spill it on my front and although I like green on me, that wouldn't be the way I would choose to wear it!

Loved the title, Margaret!

And there are colorful snowballs (crushed ice with colorful syrup) I remember in my childhood days....in a form of a lollopop, the 'feriwala' (hawker) would make it and we would 'slurp' the syrup from snowball until it gets white and ask him for the re-fills....

Those old days...

We don't have a Snow Balls here in NJ, but after looking at this photo, I thinking where can I get myself a snow-cone - I love them on a hot day - or any day for that matter! Yum!

Gayle, Spearmint is the color to get if you are already wearing green.

Praful, Glad it brought some good old days back.

Kristine, Snow cones are similar but not the same.

Margaret, What is a Baltimore Summer without a snowball, especially a chocolate one with marshmallow sauce on it!  Cherry is good too and no, we do not have snowballs in Naples, we do have Ritas!(all year long)

Hi Margaret, Now that is a snowball we can all love, me especially. I happen to love these and have found various different sources. Italian Shaved Ice is one of the best I have ever had. These are also big in Hawaii. BTW, I used to have a shaved ice machine and had to get rid of it because I was consuming too much sugar in the syrup. My belief is was " Too Much of Good Thing is ......Wonderful" . But don't feel bad for me, I used it until the blades for shaving the ice were practically dull, LMAO

I've never heard of them, but I do know we have a company coming in today to our daughter's softball awards ceremony and giving one to each of the girls. I'll have to check to see if it this company or not.

Barbara, In Baltimore the ice is different..thicker not shaved for snowballs.

Kathy, Cute name.

Christine, The real snowball 'experts'  don't seem to like Rita's.n ( I do. )

Ellie, Never had a snowball in Baltimore. Does your son like them or just ice cream.

Chris, Spearmint. A favorite for me but only if they don't have chocolate.

William,The Baltimore ice is thicker..not shaved. When you visit us in Baltimore, we will get you a fix.

Fred, Better idea, come to Baltimore for a visit.

Lynda, Similar but the ice is different.

Dee Dee, Careful they might be addicting.

Sally, Our snowballs have a thicker ice, it is not shaved like snow cones. Instead of marshmallow, you can have soft serve ice cream. All would make your teeth itch.

Todd, I see you are keeping the logo and not your photo.
