Danielle V. Lewis gave me an idea when responding to a blog I wrote titled: "How do you dig in?"  Even though I wrote this blog some time ago, she responded very recently.  Here is the Active Rain notification to my e-mail:

There's a new comment on the blog entry How do you dig in?

Comment by Danielle V. Lewis:

The hardest part is getting started on something ... After that, it's a cake walk. You can deal much better once you're working towards it.

Wow.  That simple statement corresponds to the quote by Matt Furey, Beginning is Half-Done.  Just the simple act of starting something shows that you will go through with it.

Starting is the hard part, not the act itself.

Where could we apply this?

1.  Working out
2.  Farming
3.  Fishing with our kids - sometimes..smile
4.  Completing "honey do" lists
5.  Working on the "less thankful" tasks associated with being "self-employed"

Lets all just get out there and get started...  The rest will take care of itself...

Thanks Danielle...

This is Connor Folks..

Starting is always the most difficult part of anything we do that has real merit.  Sometimes, my paralysing fear is that I won't do it well enough or perfectly.  As we grow older, we come to realize that there isn't enough time for that and we must dive into the deep end of the pool---NOW.  We may not have tomorrow.

BTW - Have you met Ron Pickett here on AR?  He's a great guy and a good lender who works with mostly law enforcement and fire department clients.

Hi Connor,   For over a year, I have been going to come up with a system for calling my "Sphere of Influence" every three weeks.  Thanks for the push!

Very Good post Connor. Starting is half the battle, sticking to it is the other half! (Hint ~blog idea~)

HAHA. You're very welcome. I was thinking about how I'd overcome procastination and simply *dealing* with things when I responded to your "How Do You Dig In" post.
