Internet Marketing for RealtorsAs you ponder marketing opportunities for the upcoming year during this transitional time in the real estate industry, you might want to consider if your website is 1) bringing you the traffic that you feel it should 2) bringing you qualified traffic and 3) converting that traffic to real, live leads.

I find most REALTORS® take the "if you build it they will come" philosophy with their website, and in many cases take the easy way out by purchasing a 'ready made' website, which requires writing a check once a month.  VOILA!  600 page website.

Then they wait.  And wait.  And a year later, they are still waiting.

Why?  Because there are two very distinct components to an effective web marketing strategy.  Your website and your marketing plan.  A website is a billboard in the middle of nowhere.  If you don't have a plan to drive traffic (qualified traffic) to that site, you are wasting your money. In fact, the marketing of your site is actually more important than the site itself.  A great website with no marketing is worthless.  A crummy website with great marketing will get you business.  Clearly, a great website and great marketing will give you a home run - your ultimate goal.

Of course, everyone has their theories and opinions of what works and what doesn't.  This represents my opinion and my theories, based on my experience of designing and optimizing dozens and dozens of real estate websites.
