I fiddled with WordPress so much the past few days, I was feeling a bit off kilter.  Time to return to my TypePad roots.

So, this morning, I made a new design in TypePad for NelaLive.  http://www.nelalive.net

Nothing too extreme.  Just a little tease and fluff.  A new improved banner, a fluid main content column.  I still need to tweak the archive pages, but that can wait a bit.  And I still need to code up a contributor widget.

In another week or two I'll tackle http://www.taylorhotsheet .

Hi Cheryl,

I've noticed the changes and I like the banner (though I can't remember now what the old one looked like). I've always liked NELA's layout. It's the look and feel that makes visitors want to stay...or at least that's my opinion.

There's such debate between WordPress & TypePad. The word on the street is WordPress is more configurable but I'm happy with my blog on TypePad. Until the time comes for it to evolve will I consider changing.

Ricardo .... The changes just took place a couple hours ago  ....  You were fast.     For a while I was playing a little game ... whenever I saw an interesting feature on a WordPress blog, I tried to duplicate it in TypePad.  I did OK too, until I finally got stymied with Swann's randomly rotating contributor widget. :-)

I like to pay attention to the weekend Open Houses :-)  Let's me know what's going on in the neighborhood.

There's a lot of different work out there in the bloggosphere. Researching new codes and widgets can certainly take up time so I know what you mean.

Cheryl , looks nice, I like a three column blog that takes up the whole width of the display screen.

Jay:  Agreed.  I originally preferred the narrower container with a background pattern showing at the sides, now I've moved into the full-width container camp.  You noticed, though I gave it just a tiny bit of padding:   .layout-three-column #container  {padding:15px;}  So it didn't bleed out all the way to the edge.  It's a very subtle difference, but to me, an important one.

Caution: CAT BLOG AHEAD

Including random thoughts on life, art, business, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate.

What is a CAT BLOG?

According to Seth Godin: "Cat blogs are for, by, and about the person blogging. A cat blog is about your cat and your dating travails and your boss and whatever else you feel like sharing in your public diary." Well, I am the boss, my dating years are behind me, but I do love my cats.

Enjoy!
