Everybody is panicking. The market is hosed. Nobody will be in business next week. The sky is falling!

How's your attitude? Are you the "glass half empty" or the "glass half full" type of person? Are you increasing your marketing, trying new things and getting yourself and your business ready for the turnaround or are you curled up in some corner of your office in the fetal position?

We've been using some of our down time (yes, we actually have some although business is still pretty good) to review our performance this year and plan for both our business and marketing for the last quarter as well as the new year. I firmly believe that both agents and loan officers who plan and focus their marketing and sales efforts, instead of using the shotgun approach, will be the ones who survive and thrive throughout our little turmoil here.

So tell me, all of my Active Rain friends, tell me what you are doing to improve your business RIGHT NOW? Tell me how you feel about the market and the future. And tell me; will you PLAN to be here tomorrow or will you just allow the market to decide your future, instead of you deciding?

My attitude is never to panic.  Because we are the Realtors and that people rely on us.  This is a market that we should know how to embrace the different cycles.  There is no reason to panic but there are more reason for training so we can be more stable and knowledgeable about the market.  PEOPLE RELY ON US!  We are the rock and we need to be solid in every angle of the Real Estate business.  We all need to support everyone in this business so we can reach out people that are in need of help.  This is what we are meant to do in life.  We all need to be strong and fight for what we believe in.

Hi Jon,

We're in for the long haul and ironically, our load right now is getting more diverse and complicated and more demanding -- but we are closing deals, getting new listings, and developing new (and lasting) relationships with clients, mortgage brokers, bankers, asset management companies, home stagers, and our AR family.  Times are GREAT -- it's really all about attitude and being ready to BE a REALTOR, whatever the circumstance!

I'm an even keeled kind of guy. Like on Seinfeld....it all evens out in the end. I try not to get too worked up over short term highs or lows...

Right now I'm working on new innovative marketing, I'm in the process of getting my MA license, and trying to get some new agents.  Seems like I'm doing more work now that things have slowed down.  I felt pretty confident about the market picking up in the next 14-18 months then I read an article in a builder's magazine....(I shouldn't have done that!)

I'm out networking with lenders and getting to know new communities:)  Well, and planning my marketing, blogging, working my back burner clients and networking in the community like crazy!  Thanks for the great tour of Kannapolis!
