The wild Maine lupines are all working together to catch the side of your eye driving around Northern Maine this weekend.
The Maine lupine wildflower gets my pick as some kind of beautiful. Drop dead gorgeous and no two patches, roadside stretches the same. Many are muted, bleached and plain purple but once in a while you hit a large patch of more colors. White, brilliant pinks, deeper blues, reds. What is your favorite of lupines and do you have them growing wild or in your flower garden where you live now?Lupine you would think could transplant easily. Not my experience and starting from Lupine seed works best for some reason. And I have a green thumb, grew up on a Maine farm growing everything from potatoes to strawberries and plenty of varieties of corn, other veggies. These lupines behind the post office in New Sweden Maine, Aroostook County.
