Sky Tram In Ocean City Maryland

There has been talk about installing a sky tram in Ocean City Maryland, which would go along the Boardwalk.

I believe that this would add no value to Ocean City and further believe that it would be a detriment.

Ocean City has become a tourist attraction because of its natural attractions and mainly because of these attractions.

The main reasons that people go to Ocean City are the sun, the sand, the surf, the sea, and even the skies.

It is true that other attractions have been been added in support of these natural attractions, such as the Boardwalk, restaurants, shops, amusement rides, and night clubs, but these would not have been placed here if it were not for the primary attraction.

A sky tram would hinder the natural beauty and views of the beach resort.  With the town being flat, a wonderful and unimpeded view of the ocean and its beach is naturally available.  Lifting one into the air by a few extra feet will not make this any more spectacular.

Vacationers love to walk, run, and bike the Boardwalk.  For those who need some assistance, there is already a ground based tram in operation.

How much would be detracted from traveling along the Boardwalk if a bird perch were placed above it?

How attractive would an ocean front room be if it had a tram blocking its view?

For those who would like this elevated view, there is already the great wheel which goes high above the crowd.

Some man-made attractions may occasionally need to reinvent themselves, but Ocean City exists because it is a natural attraction.  As long as there is an ocean and a beach, Ocean City will be a magnet for tourists.

Ron,

Ocean City is an attractive town.  It does not need gimmicks which would detract from its appeal.

Ron,

I agree.  It is the beauty and splendor of nature which make Ocean City attractive, not the side shows.

Ron,

Thank you for posting.  It seemed like no one was ready to voice any opposition to this obvious eye sore which was being proposed.

Karen,

It is one thing to have a gimmick such as parasailing, but to place a permanant fixture along the boardwalk, which would hurt property values, is not a good idea.

Kathyrn,

There is no need to hide that beauty with a silly ride.

Kristi,

We all want for companies to be able to sell their products, for the economy to grow, and for jobs to be created, but this is the wrong place for this particular product.  In the long run, it would hurt the economy of Ocean City.

Ron,

Further, I believe that this would be a waste and a distraction in downtown Baltimore.

Ron,

The money can be better spent by making sure that the beach is always replenished after the storms.

Ron,

Maybe we need to get a jack ass like Glenn Beck to get behind the cause.  He would surely have thousands of idiots rallying against it.

Ron,

Here is an idea.  Maybe the Boardwalk could be extended a few more blocks

Kathyrn,

That thought is more chilling than a dip in the ocean on a cool day in March.

Kathryn,

I favor that over the sky tram.

Ron,

Now windmills all up and down the beach may be a big tourist attraction.

Kathy,

They could be reverse powered to control the waves or to keep the sun bathers cool.
