Motivational Power Quote

Be Aware of Your Surrounding

"What you are aware of you are in control of;

what you are not aware of is in control of you."

Anthony de Mello, author, speaker

As I see it . . . . . . .

Be aware of your surrounding

Be aware of your business and personal environment for what we understand we can control. Know the people in your life and be grateful for the people that are there to support you, your efforts and are there to mentor you.

Call them friends and treat them as valued resources in your life.

What we are unaware will control you.

To compete in a changing and completive business environment we have to keep our skills to razor sharp edge.  The professional that has the sharpest skills and applies them in a professional and affective manner creates a strategic business advantage.

Having an awareness that we have to continue to acquire new skills and keep our existing skill sharp and relevant will keep us on the leading edge of success.

Awareness keeps us tuned in our personal surrounding and our professional environment. Awareness gives us the ability to adjust when it's required and lets us know when we are on track. Awareness is our person GPS that lets us know where we are at any time in our career and in our life.

Be aware of your surrounds and you will stay in control of your environment.

Lou, most of us are so entrenched in the mundane daily activities that we forget to look where we are, but we absolutely need to. As a wise man once said "how do you know where you're going if you don't know where you are?".  Nicely said.

So true and I have the added benefit because of my deafness so I have to real careful of my surroundings and have to be in tune or serious trouble.  Bottom is ... I think we become to accustomed to our daily work that we forget.

Good advice Lou. My husband is regularly reminding me to be aware of my surroundings, to be safe.

How right you are. Too bad it's far too easy for me to get distracted along the way so it's more of matter of getting back to being aware of my surroundings.

Thanks Lou!  I'm a huge believer in positive and motivation thoughts.  We can get so busy focusing on the one negative that we often don't see the 100 positives in our every day life.

Very true.  Who and What is around us is very important in what we do.

I try to always be aware of my physical surroundings, but sometimes I find myself saying "What am I doing here!" and need to get away quickly.  LOL.  I believe too, that one needs to be very aware of the people that surrounds one.  Are they a positive or negative influence?  If you are seen with them, or at some not-so-impressive location (eg. a dog fight! lol) will you be heightened or lowered in the esteem of the observer?  (of course the observer would have to be at the dog fight, too!).  It is not just the impression you impart, but the attitude you derive from where and who you are with that counts, I think.  Thanks for the reminder, Lou, I'll take the blinders off now.  Ken.

Good thought.  I have always felt we cannot always be in control of our circumstances, but we can be in control of how we respond to them.

I like this post.

Too often we get caught up in unimportant things and don't notice the things that matter.  We are not separate from our business in most regards.  If we pay attention to the big things, the not so big things seem to fall into place.

Physically, I am 6'5, 220 lbs, you may beat me in a fight, but you will also know you were in one.  At the negotiating table, I know you will blink first.  Nuff said!!!

Great post and a good reminder for me. Sometimes "life gets ahead of me" and that's because I am not in full control of my surrroundings.
