Celebrate Independence Day on July 3rd at Lake Benson Park!  Gates open at 5 pm, and shuttles are available for parking. 

• Liquid Pleasure musical entertainment starts at 5:30 pm
• Performances by the North Carolina Symphony, a 68 member professional orchestra, starts at 8 pm
• Kids Adventure Zone from 5-8 pm

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with a free classical music concert and fireworks! Join your North Carolina Symphony in celebrating our nation's 235th birthday with favorites by Tchaikovsky, John Williams, Leroy Anderson, John Philip Sousa and many, many more. Come early to grab the very best seat for one of the area's biggest Fourth of July fireworks displays.

"Rock Your Park" Flash Mob!

July is Parks and Recreation Month, and the National Recreation and Parks Association is sponsoring a "Rock Your Park" promotion.

As part of this promotion, the Garner Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is organizing a flash mob during the Independence Celebration on July 3 at Lake Benson Park.

A flash mob is a group of people that suddenly assembles in a public place, performs for a brief time and then disperses.

The performance will be set to the Miley Cyrus song "Party in the USA" and will utilize red, white and blue umbrellas as props. The dance will occur sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
